Now I haven't seen much of him at all. The odd game or two for Swans where he looked ok without setting the world alight.
But he seems to be training particularly well in what so far has just been the athletics stuff.
I was impressed with his effort in running down Crowley, who incidently is going particularly well also. The kid seems to be making every effort to grab the opportunity that he has.
Does anyone have any updates on him?
It would be nice for the lesser lights to make an impact.:)

Smithy started in the Swans reserves last year. Good form in the reserves got him into the Swans league team. Smith was in brilliant form for the last few games for the Swans. I expect him to carry this form into the new season :thumbsu:.

IIRC Smith was in the reserves and Lewis wanted to bring him into the league team much earlier, but was told by the Dockers that they wanted him to spend at least the first half of the season playing ressies. He was promoted as soon as they got the go ahead by Freo.

I reckon for what it's worth, that Smith will be a bit of a revelation. Expect him to get elevated if we get a season type injury to anyone on the main list.

We dont actually need to wait that long. Because we only have 1 veteran (Shauny Mac) we can have a nominated rookie. The nominated rookie can play at any point in the year. That said, he may be behind Dunn for that spot.

I have only seen a bit of Smith, but he does look the goods. I really hope that Foster and Smith can go on with it, both likely types.

Not meaning to sound harsh, but I would put Smith ahead of Dunn in playing priority these days.
Poor old Dunn keeps getting injured, and this has been the case for some time, and unfortuately makes him slightly unreliable.
I would like to see what Smith has to offer... and if WAFL form warrants it I reckon we throw him in to see how he goes.....
If we find we have another decent & quick midfielder with good skills we will obviously be better for it.
..and we havent had a Queenslander represent the Horde yet so it should make a nice addition to our clubs history....

Thanks for that, I didn't realise this was the case.

i can see your point, and no doubt that smith has great potential, though i reckon that dunn has plenty to offer still. if the situation arises i would be promoting the player in the best form. hopefully dunny hcan get his body together because i am sure that he is capable of great things when fit

Is Smith Heath Black's brother that we were expected to pick up last year?

I'm not sure if thats correct. If you have a full list, you can still have only 1 veteran and not have a nominated rookie.

So we know Smith has it athletically, what about as a footballer, what is his skills like?, what would be his ideal position? Tagger?

I think he would make a good tagger, he has the aerobic capacity and also has a strong build. It would free up crowley to play his own game and would also teach smith at the same time on how to play midfield at the highest level. Unfortunately i just don't know if he is going to get an opportunity.
