i have a question for the above people who are against what daics has said, if you were eating a vegemite sanga on a bench at a train station and someone came up to you and asked you to move because they didnt like the smell, would you be happy??
I know it sounds completely stupid, but its the same kinda thing, he was there first, she couldve gone somewhere else, platforms arent exactly 5 metres wide

Don't get me wrong, if people want to start killing themselves, then let them, they have the right to.
But this has happened to me before that you move down the other end and the wind just blows it your direction!
at the bottom of my work building, there is a no smoking sign. it is mostly obscured because there usually are a group of people smoking in front of it. I don't mind if people smoke in open areas, but it's blatant inconsideration like the above that I really dislike about some (not all) smokers.

Its senseless!
Because initially, we like it. It gives us a buzz. Then before we know it, we're addicted and it becomes more a ritual than a pleasure that we choose of our own free will.
At least that's how it seems to me. I smoke, never really intended to, but when I left home I couldn't help it. My other housemates smoked, and since then I'm just another addicted smoker. I'd love to quit, but then what would I do with my hands?

If so why, when you know that it is bad for you & that these foods cause obesity, heart disease & bowel cancer etc., you are killing yourselves eating this junk.

Actually I don't eat that crap, as there is all sorts of things in that food. etc nails, mice feet etc. and the reasons you just said. Have you seen the news reports on it? It was a while ago i think.

Just a question. Why do you start, and why do you continue smoking? It is killing you. Slowly and painfully. Cigarrettes DOMINATE the person. The person doesn't choose the cigarrette. The cigarrette chooses them.
I mean, at least marijuarna gets you high. Smoking just does nothing but kill you. It's just something I've always wondered. It is so illogical, and doesn't make one iota of sense.

I used to think the exact same thing. What's the point? But once you start, you don't consider why you smoke. You just know that you do. My dad used to smoke till he had a heart attack, and since that day he hasn't even had a drag. I think it must take something that huge to make you realise that you're doing something wrong. Also, being young, I haven't quite got that smokers hack going yet, so I'm not that paranoid about death.
It helps break up the day when you're at work too. I can't imagine what I'd do during tea breaks if I didn't smoke. Sit there and want one probably!
And smoking does give you a buzz. Especially if you haven't had one for ages. It cuts the blood supply down a little and makes you a little dizzy and light headed. And ciggies go even better when you're drinking.
One bad thing I've noticed, whenever I've eaten a
I smoke like a chimney. Each one tastes great and heightens whatever I'm doing at the time. There's also the after sex and after eating ciggies. Gold. I'd like to cut down to only two or three a day (depending on how much sex I get!!!!).

It's been a while since I've lived in Melbourne, but in Sydney all railway platforms (except maybe those puny little ones on the Central Coast line between Woy Woy & Gosford) are long enough that there's plenty of room to stay away from people smoking.
