Just Thought be Intresting to see them Now and how they would of Stacked up.
Not a Bad Draft There - Proud and Hislop would been top 10 Mistakes but Love Tippet and Goldstein and Dawes as out Last Pick those he was right we got him in the Top 30.
That would been a Great Draft, Ward would been Fantastic and Martin would of Helped out KPD Stocks and could of played Ruck
Jury Still Out on that those Post at 73 would of been better then L Brown
Your Thoughts on that?
2006:
8 Collingwood – Albert PROUD (QLD / 179 / 80)
Proud is a terrific footballer. Had a stellar year up north and at the Champs. Can play in and out midfield and the prospect of having this bloke Pendlebury, Thomas, Rusling, Egan and H.Shaw in their midfield group will excite them. Terrific kick – particularly on the left, very good hands and a strong tackler. DC results were a little disappointing but played the year injured and was never going to star at Draft Camp.
Obviously Selwood (and most Pie fans want him) is close here but I think Proud is a better allrounder. MY VIEW!
10 Collingwood – Tom HISLOP (TAS / 185 / 85)
Somewhat of a surprise but is the traditional Collingwood 6 footer. Great compliment to Proud, Thomas, Pendlebury etc. They are the class and this bloke is the engine which is why I don’t think they will take Connors, Boak or Houli here. They may take Armitage!. Hislop is a terrific size for a midfielder with a powerful body and strong work ethic. Good hands in traffic and beaut kick. Loves a tackle. Expect to play in ’07.
Chance they will go tall and I think Nathan Brown would probably be the pick because of his versatility up the spine. Tippett a ‘roughie’.
28 Collingwood - Kurt TIPPETT (QLD / 199 / 98)
If he lasts this long, Collingwood would surely pounce. After fixing their midfield Tippett solves potentially two of the next problems. Ruck and KPF. Wonderful hands in a contested mark situation or at the stoppages and a terrific kick. Big lad and although a little older has heaps of development given he has only been playing for the last couple of years.
44 Collingwood – Todd GOLDSTEIN (VIC / 202 / 94)
Pies need a ruckmen and Goldstein could become anything. Only been playing a short time but shows enormous potential. Many of you will have seen his TAC game in the final where he dominated the hit outs. He will need to improve around the ground and if he can his hands and feet wont let him down – he uses the footy magnificently for a big boy. Not sure he deserves #44 but Pies are desperate to get a ruckmen and wont wait to #63. Might look at Hampson if he was still here.
63 Collingwood – Robert EDDY (VIC / 181 / 83)
AA member and had an outstanding year for Gippy. Had him going much higher a while ago and the Woods will grab him here. Pies fans will love him. Pace to burn, gets a heap of the footy and kicks thru the lines. I have seen a fair bit of him and I think his skills are fine – others will disagree.
75 Collingwood – Chris DAWES (VIC / 194cm / 101kg)
May pass here.
Highly likely to go around 30 IMO before he did his knee with a few weeks to go in the season. Had a terrific carnival where he played his athleticism allowed him to move through CHB / Wing / CHF. Very big and powerful lad who I think will settle into either CHF or CHB.
Probably a bit speculative but one can hope! Being serious maybe a MacAffer, Crate, Hardy, D.D&*k, Oliver, Pfeiffer, George or a Thomas here.

2007:
#31 Collingwood – Callan Ward (Western Jets / 184cm / 75kg)
Another athletic type who is bottom age and showed this year he has the potential to grow into an A grade midfielder. I originally had him in the mock around 55 but as the year went on he just kept on getting better. Being bottom aged he may not go but he is exactly the sort of selection Hines would take as the Magpies would see plenty of upside in this youngster who is a potential game breaker. Worth noting new Assistant Coach Neeld has probably talked him up as well being from the Jets and all. Whilst still pretty skinny there is a lot to like. Takes a strong contested grab and runs hard through the ball. Foot skills are a feature and would be a chance to go a lot higher come draft day. Pie fans will be hoping he falls to them.
# 47 Collingwood – Stefan Martin (198cm / 95 / Sandringham)
Overlooked in last years draft after performing well at TAC level with limited game time due to his commitment to other athletic endeavours which escape me now. Very promising prospect and with a year in the VFL with Sandy he has developed as his fans would have hoped. Ideally you would want him to be a little taller but he is a good ruck prospect that palms to advantage but also moves around the ground pretty well. Played alongside Shaw in the Allies game who up until then I was pretty convinced would go highly and was clearly better. Will Sullivan would also be a chance here
# 63 Collingwood - Jaxson Barham (Father Son Selection / Geelong / 181cm / 74kg)
Like Donohue is a father son selection who was not bid for. Again I am not sure he would have made my list but that’s why I am only a Phantom poster. Has his admirers in junior footy but also has some detractors. The impressive Hine obviously sees something in this lad as the Pies have passed on F/S selections before. Accumulator of possessions for the Falcons this year who is very quick footballer who does remind of Wasley of many years ago. Seems to be more of a footballer than Wasley was as his decision making seems very good and he is reasonably good by foot and hand.

2008:
# 11 Collingwood – Sam Blease (Eastern / 183 / 72)
Pies have delisted a heap of mids or have had them retire so feel this is going to be a midfield type.
Pies take Blease here and get arguably the kid with the most upside in the draft. Wonderful mover and is just a pleasure to watch. Can do some amazing things on the footy field. Pies will look to him as a developing mid who can win his own ball and play outside as well. Got a reasonably good engine but he needs to develop some miles in those legs. Beaut user of the ball and is someone who Mick will like as he loves a chase and will look to tackle. The knock on him is whether his fitness will get him to a point that he can rack up the 25 possessions each game.
If Swift is gone then maybe someone like Robinson could go here. Lisle is also in their sights so don’t be surprised if he is the one selected.
# 29 Collingwood – Ash Smith (Dandenong / 184 /85)
Having gone for Blease in the first its more the inside midfield type required here. Ash Smith is another that’s gotten a lot of attention lately and like Ward did last year could bolt into the early stages of Rd 2. Wins his own footy and whilst a bit one paced he finds space really easily. Penetrating kick and tends to hit up his targets with ease. Has that happy knack of also being able to drop a kick into a small space as well. Thought about a key defender here but there really isn’t one that stands out to be selected here.
# 45 Collingwood – Sam Wright (Murray Bushrangers / 188 / 76)
This is the point where I get a bit circumspect as to whether or not these players will get taken. Sam Wright is an example of this. Very versatile footballer who can play a variety of positions. To me he is best suited to a wing and HF. Reads the game very well and has reasonably good pace. Tends to make good decisions and is very good by hand and foot. The x factor with this kid though is that he is one touch. Have seen him a few times and I just cannot get over how little he fumbles below his knees. You just cannot teach that so would think the recruiters have him well and truly in their sight.
# 46 Collingwood - Jordan Roughead (North Ballarat / 199 / 87)
Pies have taken three midfield types by here and its probably time to look at Ruck and KPD posts. Roughead is a big ruck type who has a fairly solid frame and is very strong at the ruck contest. Debated whether to take Browne before Roughead but went with Roughead because he probably offers more in the contested mark situation and a bit more agile around the ground. Can go fwd as well.
# 73 Collingwood - Jayden Post (Western Jets / 195 / 86)
Could well be accused here for tanking this kid down to Pies pick as he probably belongs in the 55-70 range. However he is over age and is a player that has possibly been over hyped – in horse racing parlance the mug punter has got a hold of him and backed him into favoritism in a year where the quality of talls thins out pretty quickly. But stuff it - its my draft and the Pies will be rapt if he comes to Lexus. Dominated CHB this year and took the most marks in the comp. Terrific contested mark and loves hitting the packs with aggression. Also good at ground level and uses the ball very well for a big fella. If he was 18 I wonder if he would go a fair bit earlier?
