anyone heard solomon to collingwood and r cole to essendon

any truth in it?

or maybe coles links to essendon?

how are we going to get stevens and cole?.

If we get Solomon, that is another Clanger king to have on the Half Back line along with Shaw and Cole.

Cole has signed a new contract, so I doubt he is going anywhere. Cole's links to Essendon are not that solid. He supported them growing up and had someone in his family working there at some point.

Cole would have a) had nothing to do with and b) would not be good enough bait to trade for Stevens anyways.

I think the best trade for Solomon is Lonie. Lonie is a gun but he is never going to be a champion. Solomon is tuff and that's what we need.

Cole will be a star. Although i think his legal guardian is a bomber board member, he will stay and the Pies wont trade him. Besides, many people from the NT support the Dons because of Michael Long anyway

Solomon is probably going to Richmond as reported by The Age

That is correct . And Essendon tryed to implement a clause in the father-son rule by claiming that because she had worked for Essendon an X amount of years , Cole should be eligible to them under the father-son rule . It was denied .

I think the best trade for Fraser is Henneman. Henneman is a big boy but he is never going to be a ruckman. Fraser is a ruckman and that's what we need.

He's guardian (IE non biological father) when he was still living at home is a administrator. He could have been drafted to Essendon a few years back but they changed the rule so that only sons whos fathers actually played for a given club could be drafted. He's parents gave him to someone because he was a bit of a rebble.

I think Solomon would be great for us. However, he is nowhere near a $400K player and any club that pays him that amount of money is absolutely crazy. Richmond hopefully!

Dean Solomon's intention to leave Essendon became official yesterday, but not his choice of destination, which could be any one of at least three clubs.

Richmond, which has pursued Solomon with a four-year deal believed to be worth $380,000 a season, continues to figure strongly but has no obvious way of striking the necessary deal with Essendon to claim the premiership defender.

And Collingwood yesterday moved into the field, joining Geelong as confirmed suitors. Magpies football manager Neil Balme said that the club had been in contact with Solomon's management, having become aware of his impending departure from Windy Hill.

"There are a number of possibilities. Basically, if a Solomon became available, we'd be interested in talking to him," Balme said.

"We'd be irresponsible if we're not at least talking about what's happening and he's the sort of player that could help us."

But, unlike Richmond, which has pursued both Nathan Brown and Solomon - believing it has room for both - the Magpies are not in position to secure Solomon and Nick Stevens, the latter believed to be the club's priority.

Solomon released a statement yesterday in which he suggested that a choice of club had not been made. He also described the decision to leave Windy Hill as a traumatic one.

"This is one of the hardest decisions of my life," said Solomon, who is holidaying in London.

"I love the club, my teammates and everyone, including the sponsors and supporters, who have been there for me during my six years at Windy Hill.

"I appreciate the enormity of the decision I have just made. It definitely hasn't been a last-minute decision, it has been a long, drawn-out process and the culmination of a number of things.

"I am deeply saddened that the club couldn't come to an appropriate arrangement with my management earlier, but I want to make it clear that at no stage have I been looking to leave and join another club.

"Having made my decision, I am going to take some time to evaluate my future."

Essendon chief executive Peter Jackson said the club had been saddened by Solomon's decision, particularly after the club ultimately met his demands, which are believed to have been $270,000 a season.

He did not say why it took until this week for the club to offer the money requested.

He also left the way open for an improbable reconciliation and did not discount the possibility of some peer-group persuasion being brought to Essendon's cause.

"This club has given Dean Solomon a premiership and finals football every season since he made his debut in 1998. We have developed his football and he has made some very good friends at this club.

"But there are still some things that need to happen before this situation becomes final. It is not signed and sealed and I'm sure some of his teammates will want to speak to him before he puts pen to paper."

Jackson reiterated that Essendon could not, and would not, match Richmond's offer, which is not something Solomon asked for, anyhow.

"You have to pay players relative to those around them and the offer we put to Dean was in line with that philosophy," Jackson said. "Our list has to dictate what we pay."

The Western Bulldogs have confirmed their interest in Essendon defender Danny Jacobs. "We've registered our interest but not a great deal has happened," said Bulldog football manager Stephen Newport.
