In preperation for my new 60GB iPod, I'm wanting to download a rediculous ammount of songs / albums.

I'm very un-adventurous with my music, so basically I'm asking all you musical experts which albums (new or old, doesn't bother me) I would do well to 'purchase' tonight via my comp.

My favourite bands are blink, motion city soundtrack, boxcar racer, new found glory (so you'd go with pop-punk) - you can use that as your guide.

I'm starting off with some fall out boy, but feel free to give me other albums worth getting.

And before you ask - I've tried pandora.com and I didnt rate any of the music they came up with.

Thank you, you intelligent little internet people.

Advice?

Don't get an iPod. Horrid devices that last a mere 6 months before bugging up. :(

With the ammount that get sold world-wide, many are bound to bugger up.

That's why you get a 1-year warranty. :thumbsu:

Its all well and good to have a one year warranty, but when you get a replacement the new one isn't covered by warranty.
I currently have gone through two iPods within one year but they won't replace it because only the original is covered.
The battery is where mine have played up
iPods =:thumbsd:

Ugh.

If you're into this stuff, it may be worth checking out some of the "old school" punk rock bands - The Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, the Damned, the Misfits, the Buzzcocks... and you may want to check out the late 80's-early 90's alternative stuff such as Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, the Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Alice in Chains etc.

If you're into "poppy" stuff, I'm not sure if you'll like the majority of these bands, but it will give you insight into how bands like Blink 182 were influenced, and ultimately came about.

What Ugh? So sick of people pulling out the names of all those bands, "the clash", "the ramones", "misfits", "the sex pistols" ffs - can you get anymore cliche? Music has come SO FAR from that.

And perhaps the bands I listed there aren't the most technical, or best sounding, or even much further advanced from those bands you named; but it's the sort of music that he likes...

Would you throw Violent Femmes in there as well?

There is another thread in this forum, 101 CD's for Faking it. To tell you the truth there is some great albums in there and are musts for any well rounded collection.

It was rightly suggested you should check out some of the old stuff. Ramones and Buzzcocks are musts for anyone into pop punk. Don't let anyone tell you punk is just hardcore. Bands such as the Ramones and Buzzcocks are far removed from what many people think Punk is (Hardcore like Black Flag), but are vital in punk's history.

Ramones - Basically the first three albums, although the anthology (disc 1) gives a good overview.
Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady.

Thank you, you intelligent little internet people.

The most important thing you need to do urgently is download the entire canon of the following two groups:

The Beatles:thumbsu:
The Rolling Stones:thumbsu:

Listen, learn and enjoy!
