Hi all,

Just wanted to know peoples thoughts to get some more information on the following regarding JK:
- How do people think he would rank against the tall timber (potential CHF's) in this years draft (i.e. top 3?? or a lot of light between him and Gumby/Sellar??). Of course this is only based on pre-draft anticpation.
- I tried to find some info on him prior to playing AFL to see how he came through, I believe he was playing WA Colts is that correct? Did he dominate this league or does anyone know where i can get some stats on him there?

I must say I did get excited when I saw a Mock Draft for 2005 (by Weaver) and he actually gave the Number 1 draft spot to JK, and thats a Tiger supporter!! Quote "Can play CHF or CHB and will be ready to play quite quickly. Good leap and covers a lot of ground, and can take a contested mark" He also listed Marc Murphy going at Number 2 to the Pies.....THANK YOU GOD FOR DELIVERING YOUR DISCIPLE TO THE CFC!!! :D

Well all I know for sure, is that Gumbleton and Kennedy were team mates over in East Perth. Gumbleton was a year younger and was chosen ahead of Kennedy to play at CHF. To me that says that Gumy is a lot better, or atleast was. Who knows the difference a year, and transition into AFL makes.

To me the clear standouts in this years draft would be
Gibbs, Gumby, Hansen, Berger, Thorp, Selwood.

I would probably rate Kennedy the same as Sellar this year...
will go 6-10

Murphy, after a year in AFL, has shown his worth, and is a clear standout of the 2005 crop. Given his success in AFL already, given the choice in this draft, would go top 5.

- Gumbleton was rated higher than Jk at last year's champs even though he was a year younger and backed it up with another display of talent and versatility at this years champs. They look similar and I think they're about the same height now but Gumby is the better athlete by a reasonable margin.

- JK wasn't the standout KP last year, but what he did display was good marking and the desire to keep leading and keep presenting all game. Dowler was his equal in the marking department but his car accident put him behind JK. Mitch Clarke was by far the most naturally talented and athletic big man last year but his FIGJAM attitude and subsequent poor champs performance didn't wash with a lot of clubs. Ryder was close to JK but again, slight queries over his position AFL level - being a 195cm ruckman - saw him slip behind JK in our rankings. Overall JK was the KP option with the best work ethic and the least question marks.

- Now for the positives, his shoulder pretty much ruled him out of a preseason so it was a big effort to play senior footy in his first year. He looked a bit underdone in the chasing department but took some telling grabs and showed a desire to crash packs.

- Reports have JK up around the 197-198cm mark which is a huge spurt seeing he was measured at draft camp at about 193cm? I don't think this is necessarily good news as mobility has never been his strong suit and I'd prefer he focused on a Reiwoldt/Waite style of play as opposed to a Quinten Lynch leading on rails style.

- Overall I dont think he's quite in the same class as Hansen/Gumbleton but I think he played very well and showed a lot for a young KPP without a fitness base, essentially I think we can look forward to a deal of improvement from JK which is heartning considering he's already shown a little bit.

I think placing him in this year's draft is pretty difficult as I would have taken Hurn ahead of JK and he went at 14

He could be anything really... I would much like to see him get 1 or 2 full pre-seasons under his belt, then see where he is at. If its true that he's at 198cm, could he be used as a resting ruckman?

i think that was in the U18 champs and gumbleton actually had a pretty badly injured wrist for those games yet was still chosen ahead of kennedy at CHF. even for the AA team, cleve hughes got chf and kennedy was left with fp.
