bad day at the office for the pies be grateful we got away with the win it could have been worse.
2-0 after 2 rounds i dont think there is any better start and im sure it will all count at the end of the year. a tough game against doggies last week takes alot out of the tank im sure they will be pumped for the aints next week lets just look forward to it and judge them after that. i dont think they will be as flat cmon the pies!!!

I dont post threads (most of the time) straight after gams so i have time to consider everything, calm down, relax, get some perspective then assess.

All Robert is trying to say to you Dave is, first sit down, assess what happened, look at everything then comment.

My first thought at the match was that all our forwards talls and smalls should **** themselves off to the centrelink, and if i posted that i would have been rightly ridiculed.

Just sit back and think about everything that happened in the game then comment, shooting from the hip is not always the best system
Brilliant words Optimax

If more supporters did that then we could really have some quality discussions.

I know passions run deep and supporters tend to vent and rant, but well thought out posting is far better to read and respond to.
The ranting reflects more on the poster than the club

I had the same Thoughts.

as You say I can post from the Hip sometimes and I can get shown as a bit of a Dimwit afterwards.

I can sometimes go back on SOME posts I make after people show me good Examples of where I am wrong

I would never boo the players, I sure as hell didn't cheer them on Saturday either.

Those of you that believe there was 'effort' on Saturday need a rethink. Effort can be something as simple as just running to a contest.

The only players I saw running were Thomas and Beames, the only 2 players I actually cheered on incidentally.

Most of you accepting what happened as a "bad day at the office" aren't addressing a deeper issue with our side and it's ability to perform when it's required.

We actually didn't do 'enough' to win Saturday, it was the demons that couldn't seal the deal, we didn't win the game, they lost it, no more emphasised than Petterd's dropped mark with seconds left.

Petterd takes it, kicks the goal, Demons win, is it still just a 'bad day at the office'?

Yeah, you're right, good sides DO find a way to win games they probably don't deserve to, but GREAT sides do that against OTHER good sides.

Not cellar dwellers.

You wont see Geelong, St.Kilda, the Bulldogs or Hawthorn beat Melbourne by a point regardless of how Melbourne plays.

Shouldn't the Bulldogs have been flat after last week? It's round 2 for god's sake, how can they be flat?

Pretty fair comments there.

Hawks has Cats on toast yesterday but the Cats willed themselves to win against quality opposition. We were playing Melbourne vast difference in playing ability.

Exactly.

Geelong won a game they were led in all day, but they did it against TOP oppostion.

A truly great football side doesn't struggle against a team as decidedly bad as Melbourne. Let alone Melbourne missing key players as they were.

Jurrah
Miller
Rivers
Wonamerri (I think I spelled that wrong)

I mean come on. Don't get me wrong, upsets happen every year, and once in a blue moon, Bottom beats top (see Collingwood beating West Coast in 2005? 2006?)

But those you can ignore because it happens to an ESTABLISHED top tier team.

Collingwood are at a stage where we are still TRYING to establish ourselves as a genuine top side and premiership threat. Efforts like the one we put up on Saturday work a long way towards removing any respect we may have won against the Bulldogs.

Had Geelong only beat Melbourne by a point (which would never happen anyway while Geelong are still a good side) then people WOULD be able to write it off as a 'bad once in a blue moon' ocassion because we all KNOW how great Geelong are. They've won 2 out of 3 flags, and have the credits in the bank to have a result like that ignored.

Collingwood are not in such a fortunate position.

St Kilda got BEAT by North Melbourne (who finished 13th, and only won 3 more games then Melbourne) in 2009. Not exactly the same as Melbourne, but relevant nonetheless. They had an off day, and North played as good as they could. St's got beat. To say that the top teams won't ever get beat by a bottom side is rubbish. There's been plenty of examples of lower teams beating top teams. There are so many variables in football that things like this happen.

Don't be naive and think that bottom rated sides can't beat better sides. It happens and Collingwood were good enough to make sure it didn't happen to them. We had an off day and Melbourne had a point to prove.

Agree Flipfoot.. Watch the game again ! Bloody looks like slow motion compared to how we played against the Bulldogs. Add that Melbourne came to play footy and this is why it was close..
Players are at fault for taking Melbourne lightly... All you need is a 10% drop in output and you're in trouble.

Plus Colin Sylvia who is quite easily their best player..
and Cale Morton

There have been some aggressive remarks made about posters recently. All TD said was that the players could hardly expect the supporters to wildly cheer them given they'd almost lost to the worst team of round one. He mentioned comments being slung at players, but booing was not something Davementioned or recommended. Yet he is abused by a couple of posters for saying we should boo players.

Before you attack Dave, re-read his post. Several people have taken from the post what they think Dave is saying rather than what he actually says.

What should be cleaned up by mods is the excess of verbal abuse that people are copping from posters who would surely not react so nastily face to face.

Thank god our bad game was against melbourne because if we were against the saints it would have been ugly. I have only bronx cheers one and that was last year when Cloke was playing an absouloute stinker and straight away after it i felt bad and i didnt feel like a suporter of the club and from the that day on i decided i will never do it again.
