Mackie to the gold coast as the salary cap to keep the great man will be borderline and if Mackie does not play this week I doubt he play's the following if we do succeed to the grand final.
Anyone have any genuine info on this?

GC? He is contracted so if they want to trade some of their kids bring on the offers but as far as I know they will target the guys that will cost them nada.

So , if its not Gary( for the sake of argument) id say it would be someone around the same age with at least 5 years to play.Who is out of contract the is year , I have no idea.

there have been three players to have suddenly been left out of the team come finals time in the last three years. all of them are still at the club

Mackie signed a 4 year deal at the end of last year, he won't be going anywhere.

When's Geelong's next family day? Maybe Mackie might flash his wang - or someone could say they SAW him flash his wang - at a mother of four and hey presto! No more-o contracto...

Apart from Mumford... and we miss him.

I think he even said that the Premiership would have kept him a cat.

Having said that, its not like he had been around as much as Blake, Wojo and Stokes... so perhaps the loyalty thing meant little to him.

But I doubt Mackie would walk out if he's not picked.

Mackie showed a lot of loyalty to us in 2006, he had a massive offer to leave but stayed and was important in the last 4 years. i reckon we should give him a crack and not turn on him after one poor year.

we need Mackie...

sorry to intrude. Just have a question:

Aren't Mackie and Ablett extremely tight?

or is it just that they share a manager, so get the same 'benefits' to other events?

You are right. And his year has been better than poor, averaging 20 possessions a week. Maybe teams have worked us out, and both Enright and Mackie have had a lot more pressure on them. As an attacking defender, he may have to develop better defensive skills.

This has been mentioned numerous time Re cat, but people persist in bringing up Mackie's name when it comes to trade talk. The fact that the club gave him a 4 year deal speaks volumes about what they think of him. He may have needed a kick up the butt (and he has got it).

But quality defensive talls are a premium. With the event of the Gold Coast SOBs and W.S. coming on line there will be very slim pickings at the draft table for established clubs.

With this in view, it is really no surprise to me that the club signed Lonergan on and extended contract.
