Couldn't find a thread on this anywhere. Very surprised.

Working my way through the PS3 back catalogue and stumbled across this gem. Blew my mind. Still trying to get my head around it.

There are 4-5 different endings too. Thought things like not jumping into cover or not going to the right cover was annoying but really enjoyed this hidden gem.

Good game. Yet to beat it yet. Got it free with Plus and I enjoy it. But my obsession with trophies and achievements won't really allow me to just play and enjoy a game anymore.

Thank god for Nintendo.

I enjoyed it, good time, but honestly think it's overrated. The story really isn't anything new or great.
Care to elaborate a little? I can see how the bare bones of the plot isn't the newest thing in the world, but I felt like the way it was handled was pretty revolutionary.

I can't think of any other mainstream game (let alone FPS) that is so devastatingly critical of its own genre as this one. I've never had a gaming experience like what I went through playing it.

The bit in bold is the main thing for me. it's not as profound as it thinks it is, or we think it is, specifically because it is sticking so rigidly to the conventions of the genre. I don't know, maybe that's what makes it clever for some, but for me, for it to have been truly great it wouldn't have stuck with convention. I also can't help comparing it to Apocalypse Now in terms of 'marine gone bad'.

Did you change your post? I could have sworn you were more scathing of it.

I'm the reverse. If it hadn't stuck to the conventions I don't think it would have been anywhere near as powerful, because it wouldn't have tapped into my cognitive dissonance anywhere near as effectively.

Brilliant game. Played through twice, second time on the hardest difficulty which was testing.

Agree with that. Good choice to cast Nolan North as the player character for similar reasons.

Regular Hard or Fubar? Fubar is a mode you unlock after beating it on Hard.

I'm about halfway through on Fubar and it's pretty damn brutal.
Fubar. There was about 3 or 4 parts which took a good while to get through but a very satisfying playthrough for the platinum.
