Just speaking to my old man and as he said, "why would you stay at that ****-up that is Essendon?"Not sure if it's old news or not, but SEN is reporting that Hird has confirmed he won't be at the Essendon B&F tonight. Also saying that he's very likely to appeal the court's decision AGAINST the club's wishes.
Why would a coach who is 'in the right' go again the club's wishes by appealing, then not go to the best and fairest awards? Hird is gone, imo. It'll be down to the wire for Bomber whether he goes to GC or stays at EFC.
From a neutral standpoint, I honestly think Bomber will either coach GC or coach nowhere. Can't see him stay at Essendon - not with what's going on now.

Finey on SEN had stated that Essendon could now sack Hird and announce Bomber as coach as early as tomorrow
After the Gold Coast Suns have sacked their coach Guy McKenna today, Caroline Wilson has reported that Mark Thompson’s manager Michael Quinlan has approached the club regarding the vacant position.
“Gold Coast are making it quite clear they didn’t approach Mark Thompson, he approached them via his manager,” she told 3AW’s Sports Today.
An interesting curveball which Caro says is yet to be confirmed in the situation, is the possible input from Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley in spurring Bomber Thompson’s interest in the Suns senior role.
“I believe that is Ken Hinkley, who spoke to Mark Thompson and also the Gold Coast Suns about the possibility of Mark Thompson maybe being available,” she said.
“I think Ken felt, as everyone felt that maybe Guy McKenna’s time might be coming to an end and if the job was to become vacant, then Mark Thompson should have a crack at it.”
After reports that James Hird could be sacked from Essendon’s coaching position as soon as tomorrow, Mark Thompson would then have a decision to make as for which position he would be most interested in filling.
“If it came down to the two senior jobs, Mark Thompson would prefer to coach Essendon.
“Although he would not remain at Essendon in any other role if he was offered the Gold Coast job.”
I haven't moved all day and put up with the Witheriff interview on SEN and both press confrencesAll this is making me nervous... I can't leave the iPad.. Must keep searching and updating bigfooty for news and info!! Haha
yet The Age says otherwise. Not that I trust Jake Niall as much as RobboAlso, Robbo reported that there is NO emergency board meeting as most would have you believe.
If Hird appeals his court stuff, then there will be a scheduled one where Hird will likely get sacked. But he has not made that call yet.

I think I read that the Age thinks he plans on appealing, but he has not actually made the call yet.yet The Age says otherwise. Not that I trust Jake Niall as much as Robbo
Yes I fairly certain about that.Where's this.. Twitter?
Yes I also believe this to be the caseI think I read that the Age thinks he plans on appealing, but he has not actually made the call yet.
You'd think he would want to get out, but he's been with that club for a long long time. May want to stick around and help build it back up.Hird not at the B&F is a clear sign to me that he will not coach Essendon next year. It looks like Bomber Thompson has a choice to make. I know which one I'd take.
Let's hope Hird listens to his players, so Bomber comes here.Essendon's own leadership group has appealed to Hird not to appeal the court decision. You'd think Hird will come to his sense and pull his appeal but this is Hird we're talking about. I think if Hird gets that ultimatum to pull the appeal or get sacked he'll bow to the pressure.

Except boltons in Adelaide and the crows could announce him tomorrowAll that said, we should very much be open to the fact that Bomber may not be coming here.
tigernova and his Bolton call may have been right all along.![]()
