time period to find a coach is before the start of november. no urgency at all.

i'm losing confidence as every day passes haha.

I really hope Ashcroft isn't serious about basically pissing around over the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, the best possible outcome in Bomber Thompson is ready and waiting.

A coach isn't that necessary during the trade period and irrelevant for the draft. I'd rather us not rush into getting any old coach just to have one for the trade period.

I'm not convinced that he's the best outcome for us anymore.

Ashcroft seemed very clear that we're not in love with Bomber like many of us on here.

Very confident that we'll land the right person when the time comes.

I think you'll find the head Coach hasn't usually been involved with much of that stuff before. Ashcroft and Clayton take the reins here. Lots of head Coaches even take their holidays in this period.

It's obviously not a love-fest for Bomber for them. They just had to get rid of Bluey and bring in someone who will correct his flaws. Be that an experienced Coach or not.

I think you'll find the head Coach hasn't usually been involved with much of that stuff before. Ashcroft and Clayton take the reins here. Lots of head Coaches even take their holidays in this period.

But you could understand a free agent like Malceski not coming here because he doesn't know who the coach will be.

Why is that? An experienced guy like Malceski will know exactly why we want him and how we'll play him. Ashcroft seemed to communicate fairly well in that sense.

It's not like we'll never get a Coach again.

The Head Coach is simply one part of the department, and someone that Malceski wouldn't meet until first day of pre-season anyway. Actually, Malceski starts significantly later than everyone else because he played in a Grand Final.

As I said, these guys talk to guys like Ashcroft, Clayton and more about what their role will be in the club. The Head Coach may give a tick along the way, but that's pretty much it.

yeah i find it hard to believe travis auld and the afl would let the Suns sack guy mckenna without having bomber thompson signed up.

Schwarz said yesterday on SEN that not knowing who the coach would be is a key negative for any player looking to join a club because the player/coach relationship is obviously of great importance.
