Just a friendly reminder Will Day was taken 7 picks after Fischer McAsey, with Hayden Young, Caleb Serong, Sam Flanders and Kysaiah Pickett in-between McAsey and Day.

I'm not as harsh on the club as many here for not having landed midfield talent this trade period - you can't force players to come, after all - but geez, we're now touting Pedlar as one of the answers to our midfield issues?

I was a massive Pedlar fan back in 2023, but there has been no indication whatsoever in the last two seasons that he will be a contributor in any role at AFL level in 2026, let alone representing significant improvement to our current midfield mix.
We wouldn’t know though, the coach Wayne lauds hasn’t given him a go despite promise in 2023

Would have been nice to have seen him tried properly in the midfield at some point during our rebuild

And we ran out of steam at seasons end
That’s the hilarious part, the club is using the “fatigue run out of steam” bullshit excuse whilst the coach didn’t want to rotate the squad.

Where’s the scrutiny on him by the club and his fanbois? Throw in his stupid selections, matchups and gameplan, we’ve got ourselves a winner……

The opposition know what we are going to throw at them

how hamish has a job is beyond me
Worrell, Thilthorpe, Rachele, Soligo, Curtin, Draper, MM, Keane, Keays, Murray and Fog off the top of my head are all pretty handy.

Highlighting draft misses without highlighting the wins is just dumb, all club have their ‘what if’ moments in a particular draft. It will never be a 100% strike rate.

McAsey’s retirement opened us up to getting Keane and he then partners with Worrell (from the same draft as McAsey) to help become the 2nd best defense in the comp in 2025.

Yep it’s painful to look at.

On the plus side we were one of the few clubs to get something decent out of the 2020 draft.

It's more that those missed picks in 2016, 18 and 19 would be at or close to their peak right now. That stings, even with the 3x players we traded in last year.

I think the bigger issue is we really got caught out thinking the Crouch brothers would lead our midfield from 2018 onwards. We drafted a lot of guys with outside speed or versatility who could complement them. Those two falling away (or leaving in Brad's case) really exposed our lack of true mids coming through. There was probably a bit of Burton and Pyke interference in there as well.

Since then, I think he did pretty well in the 2021 draft (even though NWM would have been nice). Rash, Soligo, Taylor and Nank will all be fascinating watches in 2026.
