Forget Oliver.. GWS has him stitched up. Jack Steele? just read on twitter the Crows and West Coast looking at him..
If west coast are looking at him, should we be ?
They need completely different players to us.

No it’s not actually. Gain overall (basically means convincing players to come to your club) but try and screw each team on every occasion and it’s not big picture smart policy.

Watch the Lions here with Ah Chee. Will they accept likely unders of just a second round pick (F2 most likely) or demand something more. They will likely accept unders IMO

What they will do is attempt to extract as much as they can from us. ‘Winning’ and ‘losing’ is in the eye of the beholder, but they all try and get everything they can on each occasion. Various factors impact what they can realistically get though and this influences what can be achieved, but they play each hand as strongly as they can with the cards they’re dealt.

Re ahchee, they’ll get more than they would had we finished bottom 2 because the PSD is out of the equation. But they’ll be working to extract as much as they can based upon the hand they’ve been dealt.

Who is this person .....never heard of them until today, and they appear to be one lonely post on the subject, when anyone connected are rushing out to post the slightest hint of a rumour

It's most probably one of RedHorse's Twitter accounts.

It was mentioned on one of the AFL panel shows (I think it might have been Matthew Lloyd who said it) that Justin Reid tries to win every trade scenario and list managers find him difficult to trade with.

If I knew exactly when it was said I would try and find it, it definitely could be bullshit though.
There was a published survey (player managers dealing with list managers and footy heads) this year stating Essendon, Port and St Kilda were the 3 worst clubs to deal with by a country mile

No.

It’s actually in our big picture long term interests, esp for an ascending team with multiple or at least above average young talent, to not be screwing over other teams to “optimise” each individual trade. This is common knowledge both with publicly available comments by List Managers in recent years and also non public information. Our trades in recent years are consistent with that giving our “best realistically available” picks for all of Rankine, Dawson, ANB and Peatling. I would argue we have won on each trade. When you lose net players you lose overall - no question.

Everyone knows the most difficult List Managers in the last 10-15 years was Dodo from Essendon. How’s that going for them?

Cashed up boomers?
Everyone really - singles in their 20’s, middle class families with or without kids (my ex wife and I probably in this category) or rich retirees/boomers. All chasing clearly the countries best weather and most sun, and an outdoorsy quality of life in beautiful lush surroundings (also with 3-5x the amount of rainfall per year, normally in downpours). When I fly back to ADL or MLB it’s like a desert for all but the last 50km or so before city outskirts. Many people notice this and enjoy living lush.

I would never bag ADL as it’s home and I can see all that it offers - and by God so much has improved since I left over 20 years ago - but equally I find it very parochial, perhaps even small minded, for many to talk down other destinations which clearly have attracted far greater amounts of people in recent decades.

QLD has had circa 10x the interstate migration compared to SA in recent decades.

Why is that?
I ask myself the same question. They lie about the weather up there.

"Beautiful one day. Perfect the next"

That's bullshit. My experience is it's great one day and total shit the next.

A good negotiator knows his position and what his leverage is. Sydney had no leverage in that trade. I'd suggest JR could have done a bit better in the Rankine trade based on his output to that point, although in retrospect it was a win/win as Ranks has improved and Humphrey is a gun.

A factor that is often ignored is the player’s willingness to be waiting till late in the period and have terms like ND and PSD bandied around. Most deals are largely done pre-announcement, except where a player is relaxed about a drawn out negotiation.

Look at the difference in Reid’s approach between Dawson and Rankine.

With Rankine 5 was known to be on the table from the get go, causing the Kristof account cancellation.

With Dawson, the pick we had offered to Sydney was put up with the rest of our 1st round arsenal in the mega offer to get JHF.

Chalk and cheese. The hidden factor is player/manager demands.
