Whatever happens regarding the coach I just hope we don't recruit any more 'quick' players. Leg speed is the most overrated commodity in a footballer. It's how fast the ball moves that matters. Who at Geelong is a racehorse? Wojak - gee, they're missing him aren't they, GAblett over 10m, Stokes and Byrnes, who play small forward and should be quick. Bartel's not quick, Selwood's not quick, Corey's not quick but Geelong as a team moves the ball far quicker than we do with all our speedsters. You only need a handful of quick blokes to bust the opposition open - less than a handful. Please, please, please Tigers, stop recruiting sprinters and get us some footballers with the body strength to absorb a tackle, the awareness to avoid them and the nous to give the ball to a teammate IN A BETTER POSITION.

JACK ZIEBELL :D:D:D

Hes got the body and the smarts, can run his arse off and kicks 55m both feet. Perfect fit.
Although I am his biggest advocate :p

We need to concentrate on Weights over the preseason. That's what the dogs did and they have improved alot

Yes lets draft slow young kids that will be slower stocky adults in 4 or 5 years as they develop. I have a better idea why dont we go to charlies chocolate factory and kidnap some ompalompas they would be a perfect fit for your team.

good thinking sherlock

The coach will be planning for 2009, as he is contracted. TW can't be sacked now as he has taken Richmond from the Frawley-induced wilderness back into finals contention.

He has delivered as expected from the 5 year plan.

The mix is right now - Tigers have tremendous foot speed and agility around the ball. Some talls would be a great addition to this talent laden group of players.

Well done to TW and the recruiting dept for getting the foundations right with the playing group at Richmond - we lok forward to seeing the final touches of brilliance applied to this Tiger masterpiece :thumbsu:

Yes and well done to TW for only debuting one kid all year so far whilst continually elevating the likes of such proven "guns" in Hyde , King , Jackson & Tivendale... "future planning" in action.:thumbsu:

I read somehwere recently that Geelong focused on weights in the 2006 season. They had a crap season but the next year they dominated and this year speaks for itslef.

Maybe you have to sacrifice a season just for body conditioning,,, If so our playing group is at the right age for such a sacrifice, but our Board and supporters are definitely not.

Rock and a hard place.

Yep. Everyone knows that you lose strength as soon as you stop lifting weights. There's no point just doing it in the pre-season and stopping once the footy begins. That's why our boys never seem to put on any muscle. I am totally up for sacrificing a season if it means we benefit for the next five.
And as for Ziebell, man if we get him and say Tom Swift with our first two picks I will be over the moon!

MICHEAL HURLEY
big bodied backman can kick a ball 55-60m

Will probably be gone before our pick by the sounds of things.

I've got a bad feeling the big slinky headed Fijian goofball might just fall to us and we'll probably take him as he's the type of player we need size and position wise, people seem to have been dropping off his bandwagon of late.

Yup, posted that after the Geelong game. Jees you could see the difference man on man, but at least we got beaten by a more skillful side. In the Crows game we just got bullied, which is disgraceful...

TW will never do this next year with his job on the line. Really has to happen when a coach has a bit of job security and can afford burn a year for long term gain. Almost cost Thompson his job after 06!!

I don't think it would hurt to delay it until after 09 and we've finished TW's contract (or sh*t you never know, have given him another one!). We'll get the best result from a year's conditioning once the bulk of the younger players are around 23 and their bodies have matured properly. It will mean the kids have another year's growth, and we'll also have two drafts worth of new players in who will also benefit.

Has to happen sooner or later though, sick of seeing us smashed by bigger, more committed sides. We've got too many skinny outside ball carriers and even if we get to the finals we're not going to go anywhere in them until we can at least match the top sides physically.
