Not sure if any of you heard about the interview Spida gave last night saying that if he didn't get a 2 year deal with the Hawks soon he would like to be traded to St Kilda. Given that would be a first (no traded St. Kilda player has ever returned to the club I believe) and the fact that despite being a quality ruckman, he is towards the end of his career, would you guys still trade for him in the hope that he might spur you on to premiership success(hypothetically ofcourse :p)?
 
st kilda isnt big enough for both grant thomas and spida.

Was re-iterated by Spida again on SEN today. No chas, i'm not suggesting we trade him for Dal Santo, i'm just wondering whether he would be accepted back into the club. Or, as you said yourself, would the presence of GT at the club would make it virtually impossible for a 'Spida - St Kilda' comeback? :thumbsu:
 
It wasn't the presence of GT at the club that led to his trade, it was the presence of Spida (or Peter as he called himself after leaving us) at the club that led to his trade.

I don't know what he had done that eventually led to his departure, but there were rumours of his disention at training and his "influence" on our developing youth.

I, too, don't know whether he would be welcomed back into the fold.
His playing years are very limited now, but he still has many friends at the club and is a life member.

He lost a lot of respect by the manner in which he took legal action against the club in his claim for his long service bonus (or whatever it is called).

So he may have a few friends, but he may also have a number of enemies.
Not the sort of environment most would envy.

Not a chance.

It still amazes me people fall for this crap when St Kilda and GT have been crystal clear on our recruiting philosophies.

Spida would be one of last players in the AFL we'd consider trading for.
