Who else can't stand the current WWE Championship belt? To me its a complete piece of garbage! I can't stand the stupid spinner belt that was introduced thanks to that clown called John Cena.

I know it no longer spins, but the belt still looks like shit, it doesn't look like a WWE Championship - its to blinged up and corny.

They need to seriously change soon. Something like the old belt looks more like a belt meant for the top wrestler in the business.

I think the current Smackdown! belt shits all over the bling bling shit we have on Raw.

What do you think?

Hate the spinning belt with a passion. It just doesn't look like a proper title belt, let alone the flagship championship of your company.

This is the same title that Bruno held for eight years, that Backlund held for three years, that Hogan dominated in the 80s and Bret Hart won in the 90s. I'd have thought they'd get rid of it when Orton or HHH won it. Treat it properly you clowns.

The Spinner Belt makes me sick. I'm very anti-Cena and the fact that the belt stuck around when he lost it to Orton, and now Triple H wears it makes me hold Cena in more contempt. Hell, even the ECW title looks better!

The big gold Smackdown title, based on the old WCW title, is THE best looking wrestling belt going around IMO.

Hmm well you aint going to like this rumour then. high light to reveal
wrestlingherald.com

Our own Chris Johnson reported a couuple of weeks back that HHH's name was considered to switch to Smackdown. More recently John Cena's name has come up as well. HHH may or may not move but it's looking likely that John Cena is jumping to Smackdown. I've been told that WWE has created a new World Heavyweight Championship. The kicker is this: the World Heavyweight championship is meant to be a spinner belt so it would indicate that John Cena is jumping to Smackdown.

Vince McMahon has been wanting to switch things up because of the dip in the ratings so this would fall into the "big shake-up" category and would be an added boost for Smackdown when it moves to MyNetworkTV in the fall.

i think you will find that the spinner belts may just never go away.

Best was the attitude era championship and ecw world and tV titles

 Good God!! If that happens John Cena is officially more important than any title's prestige or wrestlings history. I liked the Smoking Skull Belt back when Austin had that, but that one went away!

I miss the winged eagled belt of the 80s

here's a replica
Damn, those are nice. I like the Intercontinental one especially (side note: what the hell does intercontinental actually mean?).

But yes, the spinner belts are apparently immensely popular with the kiddies who pay exorbitant prices for WWE merchandise, so I don't think they'll be going anywhere anytime soon.

By creating new things, the WWE get revenue (short-term of course and in no way long-term). So no matter how much prestige and history behind something, if its more viable to make money by changing it then t he WWE are all for it.

They just thing that through change, everything will turn out like the attitude era. The thing they forget is that the one real change (talent of existing personel - wrestlers and creative management) have nosedrived and they havnt done one thing about it since.

in·ter·con·ti·nen·tal (ntr-knt-nntl)
adj.
1. Extending or taking place between or among continents: intercontinental exploration; intercontinental cooperation.
2. Having the capability of travelling from one continent to another: an intercontinental ballistic missile; an intercontinental airline.

I'm pretty sure it refers to the fact that the tournament Pat Patterson won in the 70's unified the WW(W?)F North and South American championships.

Could be wrong though. I can never remember which of these "tournaments" actually occurred.

and yes, the spinner belt is ****ing terrible. I reckon it looks like any other title belt, the Federation Championship should at least be bloody bigger than all the other ones for starters.

Yeah, the winged belt was the best no doubt!

It looked the best on no other then, Bret Hart. I loved that design.

Yeah, I heard that rumour, hence me starting this thread. ;)

The Smackdown Belt is no doubt the best looking in the company at this time, the U.S Title is pretty good as well. I.C has been that design for ages, maybe needs a change?

i agree...i mean, the title has the short hand wording to describe the holder of the belt...CHAMP instead of CHAMPION....crap

Might have been okay for Cena to have a custom belt, (just like Austin's Smoking Skull)...but they should have got the previous belt when he lost the title....Attitude Era belt was decent

Apparently they are changing the smackdown one to a spinner belt as well, as Cena is probably going to smackdown and getting the belt. Ridiculous, I really hope they change the raw one to something decent, Trips with a spinner belt looks plain stupid, hell Cena looked stupid with it, he just looks stupid whenever, especially in the ring, with his 5moves of doom.

The WWWF never actually had a South American title and they just replaced the North American title - which was purposely created for Ted DiBiase when he debuted - with the Intercontinental title via a fake tournament when Patterson beat DiBiase for the North American title a few months later.

If Pat Patterson says he beat a bunch of guys or beat off a bunch of guys in Rio de Janeiro, then I wouldn't doubt him...

The spinners are absolutely terrible.

Why the WWE feels the need to have a belt that looks like a toy... wait, I know why.

Personally, I liked this one best:
