Couldn't seem to find a thread but if i missed it, please merge

New walkthrough vid released a couple if days ago shows some pretty cool features. Objectives and cut scene movies are displayed seemlessly in game on walls and scenery, sorta ala Panic room's opening titles.

The marking of enemies with the goggles and subsequent executions are very arkham asylum like. Looks like a fair change from previous SC games, lots more action in this one

Looks like a winner

I'm liking the interrogation aspect as shown in the vid. Just on the surface it looks like it might result in a different story depending on your approach. That guy he interrogated, if you just shot him you'd have to find a different way to find the info you required.

Interrogation was nice and brutal too, pin the hand to a tree stump with a knife is an old favourite:D

this is the one of very few games that the anticipation of it's release is killing me

TBH, i wasn't much impressed by this when i played it a few weeks back

It wasn't the worst thing i played, but something did not quite sit right with me. It could be just me, but the older Splinter Cell's went alright

Some of the new mechanics seem ok, like the execute move (where you lock onto targets and can kill 3 guys with 3 shots) But alor of the moves looked very "Arkham Asylumish"

They do, but its hard to think it was influenced by batman considering the development has been almost parallel.

Not that its a bad thing by any stretch in my book, AA was an awesome game

True

But i do know for fact that a few of the other guys i talked to at the games show cancelled their pre order for Conviction after playing it

Demo is out now for download. Been playing it a fair bit. It's a very short demo, but a hell of a lot of fun. The mechanics are very different to previous splinter cells. The game is more sandboxy also.

It's got mixed reviews but I quite liked it. I thought it flowed well.

It's not your traditional Splinter Cell gameplay but I'm cool with that.

Gameplay is hugely different but from what i have played on the demo it feels more free flowing. I like the addition of the objectives appearing on walls and what not.

Just had a crack at the demo then. Pretty much exactly what i'd hoped, very nice. You have to do a hand to hand kill to unlock execute which is a nice touch.

You really have to have a good think about how to get that hand to hand kill undetected, be it hanging from the roof, or popping up from a sewer. It doesn't hold your hand by the looks, you need to nut it out yourself, with multiple options available.

Graphics are standard Clancy game fare, pretty similar character models to Rainbow by the looks. Not amazing but ok for the purpose. The much talked about cut scenes and directions on the game scenery is very very slick however

Definitely a buy

If this was a ps3 exclusive title we'd be up to page 10 by now. Boy BF is dominated by PS3 fanbois. :D

I can't wait to pick this up.. To the point of maybe checking out my local 24hr Kmart at midnight. What time do they usually stock the shelves? Don't have to work tomoz so I'm up for a late one.

Where's HBKs posts from a year ago saying how shit this would be?
You still hurt about that?

I said it was shit when it was planning to be an open world game BEFORE it was taken back to the drawing board and completely re-done resulting in 2 more years development time and a 4-5 year overall development cycle. If they had've listened to me in the first place they wouldn't have needed the 5 years...

You posted what you posted ~ a year ago, and were saying that becuase they had gone back to the drawing board, it meant the game was destined to be shit. Don't try and revise it now noob.
