Hey guys, early in the season it was touted that the same split lockout system would be used for Round 13 as was used in Round 1 for the Rich v Carl game.

There is a mention of it here on the Supercoach website (bottom of page).

The Partial Lockout system will return for the Split Round (13) - further details will be published a few weeks prior.

I'm assuming at this point that it won't be the case, since nothing has been mentioned as yet.

Anyone else heard anything?

So it would be wise to select a captain this weekend and ensure your vice plays next weekend, just for a safety net.

Ok, thanks guys. Just received my weekly Supercoach email.

SPLIT ROUND PARTIAL LOCKOUT INFO

A Partial Lockout will be in effect once again for the upcoming split round. This coming weekend's first five matches will be locked out at the start of the first match of the weekend - therefore no additional changes can be made to players your team who are part of any of the five games after 7:40pm AEST this Friday evening.

You may continue to edit your team line-up (trades, substitutions) with players involved in the remaining three matches, up until the following Friday evening, when the remaining three games will be locked out. If you select a Captain, Vice Captain or emergency from the initial 5 games, these selections will be locked in and can no longer be changed. If any of these selections are not made from players involved in this weekend's five matches, you may continue to edit them from the remaining three matches next weekend. Full partial lockout details will be available at the web site shortly.

Ok... So the hedging bets on the capatincy is still an option??

i.e. Pick your VC from the first part of the split rd (Hodge/Pav/Sandi/Judd/Watson/etc) and then if they score really well, make your Captain some spud not actually playing. If they don't, put the C next to Ablett, Goddard, etc.

This is correct. But the spud not playing can not have played in the first half of the split round as they'll be locked. Makes it really tricky, the bulk of the popular bench players play this week.

Also note, you can't select a captain from your bench. You have to put the non player on the field and have an emergency cover them. You basically have to go in with no emergencies in that position.

It's a real risk/reward proposition

Got it covered. :thumbsu:

Have Playfair/Davis & Goodes in fwd line. Will play Hodge as VC and GAJ as Captain. If Hodge plays a blinder (130+), I'll move Playfair/Davis onto field as captain, and Goodes on the bench as an emergency. That of course with Playfair/Davis NOT playing. If either is named, well I can always fall back to the embarassing position of having to make GAJ my captain again.

Yep pretty much same deal with me bro. Have Davis on the bench so will put him in if Hodge has a blinder.

Watch Davis get named now:D

Ahh, that makes it tough.

So if youve got no NON-playing emergencies from teams playing in the 2nd week, you cant do it?

Bingo

Non playing bench players from week one will be locked after fridays lockout. No changes can be made to them from then on, can't be made emergencies, can't be put on the field, can't be made captain

So to further manipulate the partial lockout system you could also hedge your bets with a player you are unsure of by making them emergency.

For example if i had three forward line players Ziebell, Goodes and Nick Riewoldt. I could list Ziebell as an emergency and if he rips it apart i could put Riewoldt on the field for week 2 of the split round and then Ziebell's score will be counted. If Ziebell gets a poor score i could just play Goodes on the field and Ziebell's score will not count.

Is this correct or have I misinterpreted.

Those of you going with hodge with the option of changing it for the second week, what is the minimum score for a decent captain do you think? I will be going for something 115 or over, if not, give it to Ablett.

Hodge averages 130, any less than that..... :D

But Saints vs Cats is going to be interesting, all those premium players will surely be taking points off each other..... Ablett, Bartel, Selwood, Montagna, Dal Santo, Goddard, Hayes etc....

Hodge would need to score 135+ for me to even consider it, given the risk in not being able to have an emergency in the position you have the non playing captain

This is my situation guys, just need confirmation that everything will work!

I have Jaensch C, with Pods on the bench as E. I have the VC on Barlow.

If i'm not happy with Barlow's score, I will be able to change the C to Ablett, and Pods score will come in for Jaensch's 0. Otherwise, I just leave it and I get Barlow's score.

?

Correct. Unless Jaensch gets named (Think I read he was in the best players last week in SANFL)

You don't actually need to swap Pods & Jaensch around this week (as they both play week 2). You just need to pick your VC.

So I can leave Pods on the field, Jaensch on the bench and not even have a C selected?

Just select - Barlow VC, Ablett C

If your happy with Barlows score, sub janesch in, make him captain, bench PODS.

If your not happy with Barlows score, leave team as is.

Playfair, you better BLOODY not get selected next week

I'm thinking of just going Judd captain straight out?? My opponent doesn't gave ablett so I won't lose anything if ablett has a blinder ( just the double score) but I rekon Judd can dominate this week or put hodgey and watch him shine

ok guys i think i need some help here but not 100% sure if i've got this right.
to utilize this method in the end, you end up having to playing one player short if you are happy with your vice captains score from this week.
is that correct?
my idea was to go hodge this week as VC and name davis as captain on the field, with the chance to bring goddard on if hodge fails but then i started thinking what happens to my captains position because obviously no one can play.
so you end up playing with 21?

Alright mate, I have got Ablett C and Barlow VC, with Jaensch on the bench and Pods on the field.

If I want to take Barlow's score, I put Jaensch on the field, give the C to him, and make Pods emergency.
