Splitting social media notifications between AFL and AFLW

I don't want this to turn into the AFLW debate - the girls have done a great job and good on them. But I am not one who is interested in it, and I may well be in the minority, but I can't be the only one who would prefer the club find a way to separate its social media and website content and notifications between the AFL and AFLW. I have almost no interest in AFLW, no disrespect to the players and coaches involved. I sometimes check the results, that's about it. But I don't follow it closely, don't know the players, and certainly don't want to be bombarded with constant notifications about it.

Every time I receive a contract extension news (either via Instagram or website), I don't want to open it to check if it's to do with the men's or women's program. I want to be able to opt in or opt out of this. It's getting annoying, and I feel that if the club doesn't change its approach, they will potentially lose subscribers if that's the only way not to receive this stuff.

If there is a way, and I simply missed it, please share it.

Yes - go into the email; go to the bottom which will say manage subscriptions; click into that and they have a wide number of categories which you can opt out of. Just opt out of AFLW.

I believe he's referring to the notifications he gets from the NMFC app.

In which case, the answer is no; you can't separate them.

So best solution is to embrace the AFLW and watch some actually competitive and dominant NMFC football!

Will do. But it's not just the email, mostly it's the club app and instagram account that's causing all the "noise"

There is an edit function on the app - you can choose the top 5 categories for you. However I am not sure if that then excludes the other categories but maybe make sure you haven't ticked the AFLW option there.

Ditto.

The club certainly has an agenda to VERY STRONGLY promote its womens team.

The club perhaps runs the risk of alienating supporters if it pushes that burrow too hard??? Not sure.

The recent NM Trivia Night had 10 questions on NMFC. 5 relating to the mens team & 5 the womens team which I thought was a bit strange considering the mens team has been around 150+ years longer. I don't think our table answered 1 AFLW question correctly........

The agenda is to try to attract some of the "men's only" supporters into supporting the women's program, too.

Which brings in additional $$$ at very little additional cost.

Didn't think it was that hard to work out but here we are...

As with everything, the proof will be in the pudding. I like AFLW because it doesn’t appear to be as “fake” as the men’s game. I, actually, found myself watching both games last night on the box. I only pinch hit when it comes to the men. A lot of that, I’m sure, is because our men’s team has been so uncompetitive for so long. However, there’s more than that to it. AFLW is “all effort” and on an upward curve. AFL seems to be flatlining and totally biased towards big supported teams. Truth is, I just like footy, in general.

its closer to being a sport than the manipulated product that exists in the AFL.
