I have an mpg file (10gb) that I want split into smaller files so they can be copied to my FAT32 Hard drive. Ive looked all over the internet and cannot find a program that just cuts the files into equally sized pieces without messing with the video quality/format. Any help?

1. Why do you have a FAT32 drive? Mac? Format to NTFS to avoid all these troubles.

2. You won't be able to put the file back in it's full state (I you already didn't know that).

You could easily use something like an editing software, import the video and then cut it up in there.

for ps3 i use mkv to vob.
should be able to split the file for you
i use that too. Doesnt work with MPG files.

Virtual dub looks like it will get the job done.

Use Ultra Video Splitter to split them up into the sizes you want and Easy video joiner to rejoin them again....

Neither are free but you can PM me for cheaper options ;)

You know you can reformat the HDD to NTFS without losing data?
Then you'd be able to just copy the file.
If you want to reformat you have to do it in DOS as the windows GUI format command will kill your data. Google reformat to NTFS Dos.

Anyway if you cant get your head around that then to split and then rejoin, without loss then Vobsub is the prog for you. Free and it has a splitter and joiner function. Again google Vobsub, download install read the manual.

AS MENTIONED You won't be able to rejoin on a FAT32 no matter what prog you use.

its for his ps3, so it only takes fat32 file system drives
you could also try something that will transmux/remux the file and audio streams into mkv and then use mkv2vob

Vobsub will still do the required split regardless.
I was not aware PS3 could only read Fat32. Supposed to be cutting edge technology...lol's:confused:

Microscourge holding the NTFS license to give their console an advantage over Sony. Microscourge must die.

Might want to get a clue before posting. The Xbox also uses Fat32.

Further proof that Microscourge are idiots then....why license a file system you're not going to use? Planned obsolescence..:thumbsu:
Microscourge must die.:D
