Has anyone else got hooked on the brilliant time waster that is sporcle.com? I was introduced to it from this site when someone put up the 'How many countries can you name?' game.

Great fun, lots of facepalms when you realise easy things you've missed.

Particularly like the movies and music sections.

Word around is a few Aussie Rules sporcle quizzes are coming up like Brownlow Medallists and Goalkickers etc.

Exactly the same, went on there to do the country quiz and now I find that it has replaced Freecell as my "I have a few minutes to kill and the internet is boring" activity.

I agree, this is a great site for time wasting. It is amazing though, just how many things you find out that you either forgot or just had no idea about. And you always seem to miss some REALLY obvious answers too...

Does your head in. Very american based but there are some good lists amongst them. Tennis ones in particular did my head in trying to think of the last couple. I remembered Korda had won the Aus open but not Thomas Johansson!

In the Brownlow one I worked backwards from today and I got from 2008-1968 correct. Got stuck on 1967. Got a few others along the way as well. Not bad considering I was born in 83' I thought.

Yeah I actually sent that one in and I can only get about 70. I've sent in just a teams one as well so foreigners have a chance at getting a few.

Bumping this thread because they now have user created quizzes on sporcle.com.

That means if you search in the 'user created' section, you can find quizzes on Coleman medallists, Norm Smith Medallists, premiership teams etc.

It's good fun. Would be great to have a few more people use it though so we can get an idea of who the most forgotten Norm Smith Medalllist is and all that.

I got addicted to this site when I was introduced to it on Bifooty a few months ago.
I really like the countries one.
The first time I did it I got 60/195 (I was pretty disappointed with that) so since then i've been working on it and my new best is 174/195.

Love that trivia, but my only gripe is the fact that you have to type it all out within the time limit.

It's annoying when you type out a country, only to make a mistake and have to backspace to fix it, wasting time on the clock. Or when you glimpse down at the keyboard as you press ENTER and start a new country only to look back up again and realize your previous country is still in the type bar.

Another big part of that gripe is when you type out a country and forget the spelling. It'd be so much easier to just say it all out. Usually the countries have to be typed as they are registered in the trivia.

I got 143 on my first go, which was expected considering I've grown up with a geography fanatic father who would point to a country within seconds on the globe if you named it. Give you the capital city of any nation & name all the colours of it's flag. That's where I got my love for geography from.

I hate when you meet someone and they don't even know Alaska is state, or a part of North America, let alone the United States. Sheesh. Don't people pick up Altases these days.

and
145/151 Original Pokemon Characters, for the record

And it has been quite a long time since I was fanatical about The Simpsons and Pokemon, amazing how that stuff just stays in your head.

Just did the Simpsons one. Got 61/63, only missed Jasper and Homer's mum. Also had to look up on google how to spell Rainier Wolfcastle.
