  1. 1995 Grand Final. Fourth time unlucky. Didn't give a yelp. Lower than snake **** that day.
  2. 1992 Grand Final. Five goals up and bridesmaids again.
  3. 2005 Semi Final. Nick bloody Davis.
  4. 1996 SANFL Prelim Final. You have to be a Norwood man to understand.
  5. 1994 Grand Final. A double dose of Eagles.
  6. 1997 Semi Final. The Colbert 'mark' game.
  7. 1992/93. Australia vs. West Indies. The one run loss in Adelaide - Border's last chance.
  8. 1989 Grand Final. Going the biff. Did it help us or cost us?
  9. 2005 Second Ashes test. 2 run loss cost us the Ashes.
  10. 2006 vs. West Coast at Cat Park. The straw that broke the Cats' back or the turning point? Jury's out.
Australia vs. Italy? The greatest performance by our national side in this global showpiece of soccer. The Refs hammered us all tournament long and the boys were outstanding. I can honestly say that this event and last night's loss was water off a Cat's back. I can appreciate the significance of Australia's performance but I will never care as much about Soccer as I will about Football or Test cricket.

Over it already..most of the above ten..probably not. :)

Wait, wouldn't 1989 hurt more than all the others because of how close victory seemed?

And I doubt this years game against West Coast will be talked about much in years to come... except by West Coast fans... and me whenever I'm with my Geelong barracking friends.

Hyper: 89 didn't hurt as much as subsequent Granny losses because you could sense that the Catters were on the verge of a successful period. The reason why 95 is my number one is because I knew that successful period wasn't going to be successful at all and it would be years before we could challenge again. 11 years later and we still haven't been back.

As for that West Coast game, well, that one gets a jumper because it reminded me so much of that Sydney game and once again we coughed up a lead. I got the feeling we hadn't learnt anything from the Sydney debacle and instead of the anticipated hunger we got a repeat performance against the side that many Cat fans hate more than any other.

Roostertroll...the world cup wasn't painful for the Italians geddit? ;)

93 was painful indeed LongBomb, indeed in my top 20 (how sad that I have a friggin top 20 in the first place!) and well ahead of the soccer steal a la Italia.

I'll give you some others:
1. 1991 Second Semi Final v Hawthorn.
2. 1992 Second Semi Final v West Coast. Blight's masterstroke in playing Sean Simpson on Peter Matera, brilliantly playing Matera into form with 32 kicks on our slowest player. Not all Blight's moves were masterstrokes, some were outright disasters.
3. Round 22, 1987 v Hawthorn.

I don't include the Australia v West Indies test. A small detail everyone forgets - it wasn't "Border's last chance". It was the 4th test and West Indies winning merely levelled the series. They then slaughtered Australia at the WACA in the 5th test to win the series 2-1. Another myth that overtakes the facts.

Of course it was 'Border's last chance'. We had never won and were never going to win in Perth, as it was proven when we got smashed inside three days in that last test. At that point of time Australia had never won in Perth against the West Indies so I beg to differ my good sir.
