Is there anyword yet on whether Miss Andretti will run here again this year or will it take on Japan and Hong Kong later in the year?

No i dont think there is as yet. I think they would be silly not to have a crack at the hong kong sprint at least. The bonus is 1.1million i think. That alone should entice the connections.

Murtajill and warhead were impressive 2yos from this season may see them go around in the spring.

What is happening with Racing to Win?

His run in the Syd Cup was a bottler and his Saab run very stiff

thankyou lockyer!! we have sucre coming on here bagging it!! watch some race's mate, and you will know this horse go's alright

2nd to maybe better in the saab, was a top effort, and the form held up with maybe better running well in the melb cup

what distance was this race at bendigo, and how far was he into his preparation?

Good to see some discussion on the Great Race.
FWIW I couldnt see him winning, nothing out of a Sydney Cup or the Saab wins nowadays.Who was the last winner to come through the Saab? Kingston Rule?
Top ten chance sure, better horse than Mahtoum who managed it.

Who are the genuine local hopes?
Are we relying on the rising 4yo's?

The bonus is for winning a group 1 in 3 different countries. That being the case she would have to win the Group 1 in Japan AND the HK Sprint. Pretty sure it was said she wont be going to Japan.

Brew won the Saab before winning the Cup.

Ah yes,I must have blocked that result out of my memory....Second Coming dashed to the front & held on for 3rd.
There was barely a decent horse in that year,Kaapstad Way ran fave, came from absolute last & still looked the winner 250 out.

Thanks for those memories...

It doesnt have to be a group 1. They only have to be a part of the Global Sprint Challenge, which the group 2 King's Stand was the other day. So Miss Andretti only needs to win a leg in either HK or Japan to get the $1.1 million, as it has won legs in AUS and UK.

The races do have to be Group 1 to win the US$1m bonus Im afraid. Also I have just read they have to compete in races in all four countries as well. So if she doesnt go to Japan she fails on both criteria.

US$1 million Championship Bonus
The Global Sprint Challenge Champion will be eligible to win a US$1 million bonus for its connections, provided the champion has competed in GSC races in all four countries. To win the Championship bonus the horse must also win a minimum of three of the GSC Group 1 races in three different countries.

The Epsom has been a great lead to the cups these past few years.

To those using the SAAB as a guide, these horses won or placed in the SAAB in the same year they were competitive in the Cup............ they were in form at the time & had significant weight drops.
Not 12 months later.

Perhaps look at SAAB winners & placings that run in the Cup 12 months later.
I doubt this scenario is a great guide.

Agree Bobby. Brew was a great example. Not a strong race for sure but he was in good enough form when winning the SAAB and had a big weight drop. I remember looking at the field the day before and thinking he would win. Have never been as confident about a 20-1 shot before or since.
