Melbourne has finalised its squad for Sunday’s encounter against the Sydney Swans at the SCG, naming inclusions Travis Johnstone and Scott Thompson on the interchange bench along with Darren Jolly and Luke Williams.

The Demons’ fine start to the season is highlighted by the quality of players unable to win a spot in the final 22, with Peter Walsh, Russell Robertson and unlucky omission Steven Armstrong named as emergencies.

Thompson has displayed good form with Sandringham in recent weeks, after his preparations for the season were hampered by minor knee surgery. The former Port Adelaide Magpie, voted Melbourne’s best first year player last season, will play his first senior game of the season.

Johnstone has missed the last two rounds with an adductor muscle strain.

The Swans have made two changes to their side that drew with St Kilda last week, including Andrew Schauble and Tadhg Kennelly for the suspended Jude Bolton and omitted Scott Stevens.

its a shame walshy and robbo missed out, but as long as they're not ready, they wont be in. better be back soon tho!!

We missed Powell more though Mishy. Sure, I would have loved to have had Walsh out there but Powell through the midfield was sorely missed even more!

thats true, but there was nothing we could do about that - he was suspended. walshy was on emergency, he should have played!

when he actually got on the ground, but we do need him to help whitey out, maybe they should consider dropping williams and maybe funcke and broady for robbo and walshy. we do have macca coming back too, and powelly the week after, also when we find out the seriousness of browny's knee injury

Funcke kicked a couple from limited opportunities, Williams had 15 possies and kicked a goal, Broady is needed as a tall defender...
If Walsh is fit he should come in at the expense of Brown (if he doesn't pull up) or either Williams or Funcke.
I would leave Broady in the side, and White probably still needs Jolly's help, but with Jolly not playing well, he could make way for Godders or maybe Arma.
I would leave Robbo out for another week.
