I was reading the other day that stkilda expect to nudge 35,000 members this year and also repeat last years $1m profit....well I'll be....a few years back this would have been akin to talking up Naru as a superpower

This evolution from a rag tag bunch of two bit bums should really inspire the RFC to what we can achieve. The foundations are now in place we have alot to look forward to...provided we learn from the perils of the past

Anyone know the Rod Buttars story ?

I believe he is an old Hayleburian and got lucky in software some 10 years ago?

Somethingk ?

Those that have done business with him say he's a guy that found wealth through luck, rather than skill.

Bit like Clinton Casey.

Or Eddie Maguire for that matter.

Footy is full of guys like these.

Founded an IT recruitment company (Icon) at the right time, sold it at the right time. Then bought a half-share in his brother's IT recruitment firm Ambit.

Thanx Weaver.

LOL 1980 - True

St Kilda have reached their maximum potential IMO. In full swing we should have higher figures membership wise, that may not be this year or the next, but in due time.

The tiges are a sleeping giant, a few years of success and you guys will be very scary!!

I don't think it is too far away, I rate Wallace as a coach and some of the kids you picked up this year will be very good. The other advantage is they have a monster to kick to up forward.

I do disagree with some of you though, I don't think we have reached our potential membership wise yet, it's no done deal that you will dwarf us once you are in full flight.

All that said bring on Sunday, 5th v 7th should be a good honest battle.

If we come 9th/10th this year we are going to struggle to follow the Saint Kilda rebuilding policy.

When Hawthorn and Richmond finished 3rd and 4th, they each had large memberships the next year.

From memory we had around 35-36 000-finished 2nd to Essendon, while you had around 31 000.

It all comes from sucess, I also remember Hawthorn recording a 1.3 million dollar profit and Richmond a simalar number as well.

It all comes with the territiory, when St.Kilda drop off they will drop off alot more then our 2 clubs have done
