NGA criteria is stupid. Should only be if both parents are not from Australia.

Mate, I can’t even keep up with the Nepo poster.Nepo's trying to burn little Aussie battlers for being linked, thats right, LINKED, to something they have abused since inception!
Shocked to be reading this!

StonesThrow pointed out the Michalanney example and I provided the Kako example from last year.
So because we are going to get some flukey mid 20s NGA pick we should stop complaining about Gold Coasts multiple top 20 picks every year?
Ok
I am not even sure you have to prove it. All you need to do is tick a box on your junior club registration that says you are aboriginal or have a parent born overseas.NGA criteria is stupid. Should only be if both parents are not from Australia.
It's difficult when you don't have any top 10 draft picks.Agreed. Who was the last legitimate gun Collingwood actually drafted that wasn't father son or academy?
It's difficult when you don't have any top 10 draft picks.
But looking at the team, guys who were drafted and have been strong senior players include:
Murphy (unfortunately had to retire due to concussion 12 months ago)
McCreery
Maynard
Mihocek
DeGoey
Pendlebury
Sidebottom
Langdon (retired early)
Elliot
Josh Daicos was a pick in the 50s
And those we traded:
John Noble
Oliver Henry who wanted to go back to Geelong
Grundy (2x AA)
Stephenson won the Rising Star and we traded him a couple of years later.
So, not too bad considering the draft capital we have had over the past number of years.
Also, if we weren't getting Nick Daicos, I doubt we would have traded our 1st for a couple of 2nd round picks. That would have been pick 2 so we could have picked up any of:
JHF
Daicos
Darcy
Callaghan
Wanganeen-Milera
Mac Andrew
What about David Rodan's son for next season? He needs to make a decision whether he nominates Port as a Father/Son or Essendon as NGA.This is a similar scenario to Geelong and their NGA prospect Jessie Mellor this year.
Well, you obviously dont rate premiership teams.Wow that's worse than I thought it would be.
Well, you obviously dont rate premiership teams.
Unfortunately, the price you pay for playing regular finals footy.
So you don't rate any of:I rate premiership sides. It doesn't mean your drafting hasn't been below par. Your trading has been great and the father sons have helped a heap.
I am not even sure you have to prove it. All you need to do is tick a box on your junior club registration that says you are aboriginal or have a parent born overseas.
I did this for my son earlier this year out of curiosity and the very next day an invite came to join a club NGA.
Conveniently left out Norf with Sanders lolSt Kilda were screwed out of Cam MacKenzie access so you can understand why they would be pissed off.
As were Melbourne with Mac Andrew.
And Melbourne with Mac Andrew.Conveniently left out Norf with Sanders lol

Apart from JDG, Pendlebury and Stephenson, none of the others were top 10 picks.
I would have thought, apart from 1 season, we tend to get our top 10 picks right. In this case, it was Pendlebury and JDG.
In terms of FS that club's thought were top 10 worthy, it's Moore and Nick Daicos.
It's an argument that doesn't make sense.Going back a long way with Pendles and Sidey. Truth is the list over the last 10 years other than FS and academy picks is not great.
It's an argument that doesn't make sense.
If you don't have a father/son or academy player, you don't trade your high picks.
We had pick 2 for Nick Daicos. If FS didn't exist, we probably would have used it on him anyway. Or we would have taken Darcy, JHF, Callaghan etc. So that was irrelevant.
We really only have 2 FS who other clubs wanted on draft night.
The rest of the draft picks we have had we used to either bring in players (such as Treloar) or 2nd round picks with a number being relatively successful.
I wish we had the top 10 picks that the Bulldogs have had. I think we've shown we tend to pick well when we have had them.
Take out your top 10 picks and FS and how does your record look over the past 10 years?
Every club has rookies or mid-season draft picks who have become established players.Wilkie Sinclair Marshall all rookies.
Every one of those players would be walk-up starts at St Kilda.Going back a long way with Pendles and Sidey. Truth is the list over the last 10 years other than FS and academy picks is not great.

What about the rest of the team?
You haven't played much finals footy, and your list looks a concern.
Apart from Wanganeen-Milera, can't say you have utilised your draft picks well.
Or, your club has been poor at developing these kids.
