Bit early to say definitively, without knowing delistings, trades, etc. but at this stage (I think) our picks are:

9, 26, 42, 58, etc.

As we finished 9th, shouldn't we have pick 8? Or have priority picks got in before us (although I though they were priority after everybody has had a pick now)?

It is generally, but if you go 2 seasons without winning more than 4 games you get the early priority, otherwise the priority pick is after round 1. Hope that clears it up for you

Correct, the thing I'm not clear about is whether Carlton also get a priority pick after round 1 as well. My above selection list accounts for this, however I'm not sure. Can anyone clarify?
