Stanton's contract status

Currently I have not heard any news of Stanton signing a new contract with us which for me is a worry because wether some people like it or not he is very important to our side.

Does anyone think that he could possibly be going to Gold Coast?

I hope he signs on with us soon.

Was never worried about Hurley or Gumby leaving, but I've been quietly worried about Stanton leaving for a while now. A signature soon would be great.

he was the one talking to the team in a huddle at one of the quarter breaks on the weekend, IIRC

and from VFL match reports I've read, he has been jumping in and helping with the midfield coaching on game day.

People really undervalue Stanton in our team, no one runs as hard as he does week in, week out. Sure, people might think that someone like Winderlich or Prismall could take his role, but I've seen little evidence of that this season. I hope we sign him ASAP

Before I start i wanna say that im using my mates username cos i'm not a big footy member but I am a hardcore essendon fan and brent stanton is no good at all. massive individual. All his footy is about his stats and how good he looks! I couldn't care less if we traded him for a packet of chips and a six pack.

Don't start jumping up and down. Calm down and listen. Name one thing he has done! He doesn't make anybody around him better. He just pads his stats. It's a joke he even wears number 5!

Sure his fit and runs hard, but hey give me around 200 grand a year if not more and i'll be fit as a mallee bull for you.

Who could ever forget the game against brisbane a couple of years when frothies had a running shot from inside the square which went straight through at goal post hight. The replay from a different camera angle clearly shows Stanton standing five metres away screaming for the handball then throwing his hands in the air in disgust when frothies had the shot.
Instead of pushing towards frothies and providing a sheppard to let him know he was well and truely clear
Then about two weeks later with lloydy streaming out on a lead in aclose game in the final quarter. He wanted to cover himself in glory but new he had to honour the captains lead. So he confused himself and put the ball out on the full game over. Lloydy just glared at him no one went over to him. He just hung his head.

Knights saved him cos he was gone under Sheed's. Didn't come on here to bash him. but you guy's need to take off your rose coloured glasses and look at the big picture.

Very expendable. He can go to gold coast for a first round draft pick. He only has value cos they need experienced players. I would start with asking for a top ten pick then settle for 10-15 pick

But I'm not going to lie.. I have seen him peel off for the easy handball instead of the sheppard.
