have never seen a full star wars in my life, and could never see myself wasting a perfectly useable 3 hours doing so.

I keep on getting told i have had a deprived childhood. Is this true?

lucky you locked her in. A friend of mine is a star wars nut. I've watched bits of it, but i cant go much longer than 2 minutes.

what was her opinion afterwards?
i'm also trying to work out if its only the people who havent watched it that dont like it, and if its a matter of watching it then you are hooked.

are there those that have sat through an entire one and still thought it was crap?

Ummm... i've seen them, but don't like them at all, really...

Return of the Jedi is the closest I can come to liking them...

Although i don't like them, I think it's one of those things you should really see

I have never watched longer than 10 minutes of Star wars.
I hate them all. Star Trek, Lost in Space ect. Jeez they annoy me!

I hate them all so much!

They might not be great when you're 27, but when you're 9 yrs old and living in the eighties, they are fantastic movies.

I've seen them all.

The original Star Wars was great. The Empire Strikes Back was better. The first half hour of Jedi was going fine - especially with the Princess wearing the brass bikini. Then it went to all ****ing hell. You have to suffer through two more hours of short people dressed in pathetic teddy bear suits. The only good thing is that it ended...we thought. No, Jedi was nothing more than foreshadowing of George Lucas descent into insanity.

Lucas' own self-loathing and (sub-conscious?) desire to ruin his own franchise brought about the next two films. Phantom Menace, and Clones were nothing more than a parody of the original films as you might see on the muppet show. Not even a hot Queen, and - finally - some real light sabre fights can save these pieces of crap.

The worst thing about the prequels is that the whole story ceased to be a sci-fi victory of good vs. evil. The theme is now the justification and redemption of Darth Vader. Apparently Lucas believes that if your mother is murdered (and possibly a few other bad things we have yet to see) then it is OK to be evil, preside impassively over the deaths of millions of people, and torture your own daughter. As long as you make a last second turn-around just before death, your eternal soul will dance fleet-footed over merry hills and dale forever after. We may expect to see Hitler in Heaven too.

Nice message for the kiddies, George. Go to hell.

I think you might just be taking it a little too seriously there mate. Besides hasn't the old good victorious over evil thing been done to death already?

Another triumph, Mooster.

Star Trek - :o

Star Wars on the other hand isn't too bad, behind the Rocky series it probably ranks second for me.

It's weird how some of these movies you see and some you don't.

I like Star Wars except the new ones are only so- so.

I've never seen a James Bond or Star trek movie though.

I don't mind it at all, but definetly not to the point of dressing up as Darth Vader in the premier of Star Wars Episode 1, now that is going too far.

They're all good - all of them. The Universe Lucas has created is magnificent and the story is fantastic. It will be amazing to watch them all in succession when they are finished. I don't think many realsie the compelxity of the prequal story that Lucas has formulated - it is so much more deeper than the original trilogy.

Those that didn't like AOTC need their heads examined. Don't even compare it the the Phantom Menace - it was miles better. All of the five movies are made with similar themes, they all start the same, they all end the same, they all have the John Williams score. They all feel like Star Wars. The dialogue is structured identcally from move to movie.

The best films in order are:

1. Empire, by a mile.
2. A New Hope and AOTC. Equal second.
3. Phantom Menace and Return of the Jedi. Equal third. The two weakest of the series.

Up there in my favourites of all time - esp Empire....

Probably becuase as a kid I loved them, but as I get older I appreciate esp the dialogue, the music score and how good they were effects wise for the mid 1970's.

And in the creation of Vader (in the first 3) you have one of the most memorable yet charismatic villains in cinematic history
