starting conversation from scratch not working

I'm typing in a users name after starting a conversation and it won't accept the user name. I have to click on their name to do it. Any reasons why?

It's not working for any user. I tried to send a few dm's and it's not working. Just gives me an error message.

You don't need the @ in front of the name. Just the user name will work.
