Years ago I went to a place called Vlado's, and it was the best steak i've ever had in my life. It might have been in Richmond, but I don't remember.

There isn't really anywhere special in Geelong. All very average. The Carlton does an alright steak though.

edit: I was right, it is in Richmond

The Vlado's experience is just a distant memory. Nowhere near the best steak any more.

Squires Loft is easy and never let's you down.
Probably better ones around though, as I haven't been eating meat as much in recent years.

Prob the best steak Ive had latley in Geelong was at the barwon heads hotel quiet pricey 30 odd bucks for a dirty big Tbone.
Parkers steak house is ment to be good never been there.Herd its pricey.

I vowed to never go to the Barwon Heads hotel again after a Christmas lunch there about 7 years ago :p

I dont know if I want to know if you know what i mean:D.I guess it was bad.
I thought the barwon head hotel would be much nicer than it is but there food was yummy.

Agree with the Hogs Breath call, good price to if you have that card thing and get 25(?)% off. :thumbsu:

No contributions from the West?
Havent tried many steak places being a typical uni student, so I usually just convince myself it cant be too different to buying a decent cut of scotch (special occasions!) and cooking it myself. :p

We have a Squires here too, might try that next time.

Very curious about Rockpool though, there's one here now but cant imagine forking out ~$130 for a piece of steak! No matter how "dry-aged" or "marbled" it is.. not in the near future anyway. Will definitely give it a go when Im more financially secure.

Dont dismiss this out of hand

hogsbreath cafe - near chaddy

they slow cook their steaks.... they just melt

My biggest gripe with HB is that they "cannot physically cook a steak rare"

due to the way it is cooked in the water bath to an extent then only seared on the grill.

are tender though

I don't get the Squires Loft thing. Nice but a bit meh.

The Last Jar, which is the old Arthouse, does a very nice and reasonably priced steak selection too.

How do you guys get your steak cooked? i.e. rare, well done ect.

He has gone to meat his maker.

Meat & Wine Co
Heard they are very good but not been there yet.

Outback Jacks are great!! ;)

Bluefire at pier 35 has some good steaks, well it did last time I went there. Red Hill Estate does the best eye fillet I've had.

For me I mostly like to buy & cook my own steak that way I have it cooked exactly how I want it every time. Got a great butcher in Newport I get my meat from.

He was a rare breed of human being. He was a perfectionist, stuff wasn't just well done, it was flawless.

And when the chips were down, you knew you could rely on him.
