Look like it'll take a fair amount to get used to. And whether they want to admit it or not, it's just two laptop mouse trackpads stuck on a controller, really...

I doubt it's ability to beat out 360/PS4/XBOX ONE controller's for use on PC though.

That was in legacy mode with no optimisations.

Yeah, but one of the big drawcards was that it'll be compatible with any game, so that's the base usage.

It's one of those things that looks like it has more precision for games that would likely work better with a mouse, but less precision for games that work well now with a controller. It seems like it'll be stuck in a weird in betweener stage.

I see absolutely no reason why this would function worse than a console controller for whatever games are better with a controller. Particularly given that it will be playing PC games, rather than games deliberately adjusted for console use.

The only real query is how it compares when playing multiplayer games against players using mouse and keyboard.

1. Saying "it's just two laptop mouse trackpads stuck on a controller" is a pretty stupid comment.

2. The second comment about the other controllers is equally as stupid.

It's pretty easy to see actually. The swiping. That, right there, ruins precision.

How many people using a mouse lift the mouse off the surface to make movements?

The instant you're taking your finger away from the controller is the instant you give away elements of precision. No manner of gearing the game to work with this controller will change how that specific thing works.

Thanks for that rational comment with explanations as to what and why you posted what you did...oh no wait, scratch that.

What games that are better with a controller than with a keyboard and mouse rely on precision?

What?

No, does the controller make it more precise, or does it just give it a better overall feel?
Oh sorry, the controller makes it more precise. It allows for the control scheme to work infinitely better.

And how would the Steam Controller fail in that regard?
It's kinda hard to explain without delving completely into how the mechanics work (and that's not my prerogative to do at the moment either). But the bowling is one big element that wouldn't work right.

The civ video won me over, if I could play a game like that from the comfort of my couch then I'd be all for it. The legacy mode should erase the hassles experienced with trying to configure 3rd party and 360/PS3 controllers

Oh right, I forgot QA is technically somewhat apart of the back door to the games industry. Maybe.
Jealousy is a curse I guess.

It's actually right inside the industry, because we dictate he quality of a product otherwise the devs don't know what's wrong with the elements of code that they put in. Not only that, but BigAnt isn't a studio where you're set alone to the side on your own devoid of helping in other areas, if you have an idea the guys doing the coding are more than willing to listen to it and implement it if there is time. There's already been a signficant amount of stuff I've been able to contribute with my knowledge of the various sports titles we're working on and it's great bumping ideas off of others too.

HBK, that would mean I'm also jealous of some 15 year old kids I know. Being a QA tester is literally the last job in the "games industry" that I would be jealous of.

Now my step uncle who worked at Psygnosis and moved up to be one of the SCEE big boys is a job I'm quite jealous of.

I'm sure if you keep telling yourself that enough you might eventually believe it.

yeah that looked pretty sweet; perfectly suited to that kind of game as well as papers please in the last demo.

whilst the precision aiming with the track pads for the csgo demo was better than i expected it to be, i still think it won't be as good as kb & m or modern twin joystick console controllers.

Yep pretty much my thoughts. This controller will be serving an extremely niche market of people who want to play strategy games sitting on a couch.
