And in the last 2 or so months I've played PC games approximately 10 times longer than console.

I am a PC gamer. I use KB+M for KB+M games and a 360 controller for racers/platformers. I just see this controller being very limited in use.

You do realise that you won't be forced to use the Steam Controller (not that any of us have even used it yet - all the feedback from those that have used it has been positive).

I never understand that GTA line... It's a fantastic game but nothing to be upset over. I went back to my ps3 for the first time in yonks to play it and honestly I feel it might just be better to wait for the PC version to have a proper framerate and some antialiasing...

I play on a 110 inch projector and that aliasing is almost blinding at points :p

Various media have been given some hands on with Valve's Steam machine prototype..

After a short demo, I got an opportunity to ask my burning questions about where all of this is going.
First, circle January on your calendar. That's when the other shoe will drop; Valve's hardware and software partners will reveal the actual Steam Machines that will ship to consumers, and the games that will come to the Linux platform, at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show.
There will be a number of different Steam Machine boxes on sale in 2014, and Valve expects them to arrive mid-year. Some of those boxes will be far smaller and / or cheaper than Valve's own prototype unit. "You can get far smaller, and that's what many OEMs are doing… I think it's safe to say less than a quarter of the size," the team told me

Don't like the whole thing of purchasing the game, downloading it,install it then play. example with Simcity every time i need to format the pc i have to re-download origin and the game which takes bloody ages.

I know it's the future of gaming but i'm not a fan of digital media i enjoy going to an actual store and purchase a physical copy of the game.

It's just my opinion but i enjoy going to an actual store and buying a physical copy of the game not really a fan of digital media.

If your internet is that dodgy just back it up on an external harddrive. Too easy.

Shouldn't have to format a PC very often, if it all regardless.

True.

My PC was so infected with spyware and viruss not matter what software i tried i couldn't get rid of them had no other choice but to format.

Hmmmm i did back up my install of Simcity but once i loaded Origin it forced me to download the game again Origin must of thought i was playing a pirated copy of the game.

Certainly shouldn't be the case if you put the files in the right location, Origin/Steam merely check that you own a CD key/license, you can pretty much screw around with the files as much as you want. Once that key is tied to your account, the files themselves don't really matter.

That's the thing tho i did put the game files in right location but Origin still wouldn't accept it. Hmmmm haven't really used Steam before so maybe it's just an Origin/EA thing.

I just recently installed a new HDD and can confirm it works fine for Steam games, Origin is EA though and EA are shithouse.

Origin and Steam are pretty similar programs. Apart from a few more security concerns on Origin when it came out and Steams excessive use of RAM there isn't a lot between them. (apart from content). Never had an issue with EA. A lot better than Slackdivision.

The biggest problem i have with the steambox concept is the fragmentation of PC gaming, it's really hard to blame developers and publishers for not getting behind another API and OS.
