To those that are considering him, like me, is it based on any hard inside knowledge or just because he's a rookie on the bubble?

Are any Collingwood fans prepared to give us their views on the most nick-named player this year?

I will go away and do my own research but any free advice will be appreciated. I am not sold on him but he would be a useful trade in this week for my team, for other reasons.

I've had him since Rnd1. Thought he would have gotten a run earlier. Pies fans have big hopes for him from what I have heard.
That said, I'm not sure if his spot is nailed on or not. Not sure if there is anyone expected back from injury that would take his spot from him.

I don't think his gonna pull out many 85+ scores but he will play and he'll consistently score 60-80 IMO. I'll probably be getting him this week for M.Brown.

On the Collingwood board they seemed pretty happy with his game today.

He seems like a bit of a punt and low to OK scorer. I don't need another low scoring rookie in my forward line.

I would say he is still finding his feet and playing slightly within himself... in the TAC he was a ball magnet and a goal scorer too as evidenced by a big bag in the TAC Cup Grand Final. His disposal is extremely tidy, he earns his own ball and has a huge engine. He will be stiff to get dropped as we have a lot of poor performers and Steele is able to do the four things Mick loves: put his head over it, tackle, run hard and dispose effectively.

So far he has been a bit timid both at VFL and AFL but at TAC level he was the first to put himself in harm's way so no doubt sooner rather than later he will find the confidence to do so at AFL level and when he does, will star IMO.

A great rookie candidate for the run home as he will gradually be played more and more onball and he came 2nd in a 3km time trial in his first run with Collingwood so you know the guy can run all day and will not tire and he is the kind of player Mick likes to have the ball in his hands because he has poise and purpose in his disposal, rarely wastes possessions ala Pendlebury.

I'd recommend him as a speculative choice, at least over the other options at the moment certainly. The more Collingwood's season goes down the tubes, the more opportunities he will get also. Collingwood is big on fast tracking young player's development so no matter what I think Steele will see most of the rest of this year barring injury.

he will be great for an emergency scoring 50-70 but not as your 7th mid. unlike rich, i don't think he will crack the 100 too many times. he will scoring similar to ziebell i reckon but probably not as well.

Going to bring him in for one of M.Brown, Beams or Krak..
any advice as to which one?
cheers

Im prob gonna bring him in for brown as he has peaked. Krak is a keeper for me now given trade constraints and Beams still has some more juice in him
