Interested to see what his value would be.
He's clearly a hugely talented footballer and a big game player in past finals. Steele has the ability to be a everywhere man who can do everything well on the field, but where should he be played midfield or forward to maximise his talents.
With Collingwood looking to rebuild it's list, Rumours of other clubs being very interested in him.
My list in descending order:
1)Sun's- looking for experience to soon replace Ablett, Barlow, Rosa and Rischitelli. 2)Giant's- in win now mode to replace ageing stars Stevie-J, Griffen, Deledio or young guy's leaving. 3)Saint's - to replace ageing player's Montagna , Armitage. 4)Bomber's to replace Stanton, Watson, Hocking and Myers. 5) the rest, Dog's, Lion's, Demon's, North Crow's and Eagles
Contracted until end of 2021 means that he signed for slight unders.

Will thrive in a good team, big finals player, which we won't get to see with Buckley around.

We have too many good midfielders that don't excel in a particular area.

Happy to trade or keep him, there are merits to both sides.

Used to be an elite ball user but that part of his game appears to have gone backwards... any obvious reason for this, Pies fans?

That being said, would like him at the Dees for the right price as we don't have a lot of good outside mids.

He's one of the most productive outside mids in the game. But when you have 1 or 2 obvious clangers people tend to remember these few mistakes over the other 27-28 effective touches he gets.

Also, when you have a team full of medium height/small players who suck at contested marking, it becomes alot harder to hit the target.

Like I said before, will thrive in a good team.

Would like him at the Crows. Highly doubt he goes though. What would be his price?

Less than Lever, more than your 1st round pick this year, somewhere inbetween most likely.

Would pick 11 currently do it? Think he'd suit us perfectly, pick 11 feels a bit cheap though.
Probably about right, he has his strengths and weaknesses

He has high production as an outside mid, disposal could be amazing or abysmal (when it rains).

Very good runner endurance wise (#1 at the club for years) but not overly fast.

Can kick goals and is versatile but not exceptional at contested work.

Probably pick 8-12, and like I said multiple times before, will excel in a good team.

Don't be coy, he's a contracted player therefore he's worth a minimum 2x first rounders.

To anyone crazy enough to pay that, sure. Steele is a good player, but a very frustrating one to have on your team. Hasn't really improved in about 5 years, dinky little kicks that always fall short and he goes missing for about a quarter or two every single week. I'd cash in on him in a trade but I doubt the club would go in that direction.

That's the concerning thing from a buyer's perspective.

Yes & no - at least you know what you're going to get. He's good for about 27 touches, 4 tackles and almost a goal a game every year. He'd be a good get for a lot of sides who are contending.

He's an outside mid who pretty much has reached his potential and ceiling. As an outside player he needs his inside mids to do the primary work for him to perform, it's just the nature of his role. Which is why teams with a good core of inside mids like Adelaide, Melbourne, Stkilda would love him.

Yeah I'd absolutely love him tbh, more of his disposal and less of guys like Gilbert's is what we need

He's clearly a forward but the coaching staff are too incompetent to realise it. Better off trading him for picks because he's not being used in the right way.
He certainly would be much more damaging as a M/F than a D/F or M. We have tried him in all 3 positions and he's clearly best in the 1 position not sure why this changed.

I'd be happy to hand over our first rounder if it's 6-10 and a 3rd back.
If it's higher than that somehow I'd expect the pies second back.

But yeah I reckon he would flourish at Melbourne being fed the ball by Viney Tyson Jones Trac etc playing as a HFF drifting to the wing
