Hard to imagine that a long term contracted, 27 disposal per game, high endurance, goal kicking mid who’s the vice captain and top 5 player at his club has more value than a KPF who had a solid first year, a terrible second and has some serious question marks over him?Schache a KPF, two years removed from being pick 2.
Pretty hard to see how Sidebottom has more value than him, as per below.
Tom Boyd is the poster boy for not over paying for a former high draft pick who hasn’t proven himself yet. What did Tom Boyd go for again?
I haven't seen much of Schache so I can't really judge him, however what I have seen hasn't been much chop. The rumour is that Brisbane are looking to trade him this trade period for a late first. If that's true then I wouldn't be doing the straight swap. Again I'm no expert and your opinion may be more valid. Can't imagine the Lions would be adding anything to Schache to get Sidebottom.
Nope. If anything we would want more if we were seriously considering the deal, with the contract and all. But like I said 8 would be around the mark.36 coming back

Was only responding to the it would take a KPF to get Collingwood to trade Sidebottom. That and Schache being the one most linked to you guys. What is it you think Sidebottom is worth draft pick wise?
That's fine, but Collingwood adore him so they'd want something significantly greater than Schache.
IMO, he's worth a pick from 10-15, but given he's contracted and how highly they regard him they'd be unlikely to accept anything less than a top 5 pick if he announced he wanted out.
So their value is very similar. Both are in positions where their current clubs have reasonable depth but where are needs to each other. If Sidebottom was 24-25 I would be crazy about it. Given his actual age I am warm to the idea. He would probably be on the decline when we are really competing for the cup. Would certainly make us more competitive over the next 2-3 years maybe even by 2-3 extra wins per season. Both are contracted for another few years so both would have to ok to leave their current clubs. Extremely unlikely but I could see it as a win win for both clubs.
In your opinion. IMO, it would very much be a win lose because Schache is overrated. Collingwood are definitely not in the position to give away a top level performer for a highly speculative potential top level performer and they know it. As I said Schache won't even get a seat at the table so let's cool our jets.
Agree apart from him having another 8 years. 3-6 would be closer to the mark (probably 2-3 of elite) He is 27 at the start of next year.Dont understand the logic on here
Sidebottom whose highly durable and has played 180 games by 26 and you're saying you'd take a pick 11 for him? It would seem to me that he has another 8 years of good footy ahead of him at an elite level and you'd rather go back to the well and take a punt on a draftee? That would be a good to way ruin club culture. Especially after he's taken serious unders and all his best mates (Beams Shaw Wellingham) have left the club for $$ and he's stayed loyal. Deserves captaincy after Pendles IMO
It's a hypothetical trade discussion forum. This is exactly what it's for so no need to cool our jets. Kpf have a lot more currency then mids. So the fact that one is proven then unproven is evened out by that. He is a former pick 2 so the talent is well and truely there. Judging him by 1 single years out put is not the way to go. Even so at this point in his career he compares quite favourably to other high end kpf at the same point. Where he ended up this year was due to him taking on a massive work load for a body that hasn't had the preseasons to build up for it. Couple more preseasons under his belt and he will be a gem. For that reason I am more then happy to keep him. Only reasons I would consider letting him go would be if he asked for a move, Hippy looks to be that marque kpf to build a team around (which we didn't have before drafting Schache) and we have access to Ballenden this year as well.
