This is basically it. He’s way too old to get a second round pick which is what he’d be worth to us. So unless someone really is desperate I don’t see it happening. Way too valuable for us.

I don’t know his age, but I recall Collingwood paying a first for an oldish jolly. If a team believes he can net them a premiership in the coming year or two we may be surprised what the pay. Also ruckman is often a sellers market compared to other positions imo.

Jolly was 28 when he came to us I think. Martin is about to turn 32.

I never said he is worth a 2nd round pick, I'm just saying don't discount the off-chance that a premiership contending side with a low 2nd rounder offers it to Brisbane to get 2-3 quality years from him.

If an extremely poor ruck in Lycett can get 700k+ and demand a top 20 pick when he's close to being a list clogger, that says alot about the ruck market.

Nah, he needed to leave Melbourne for his own career. He was one of the party boys at Melbourne, too much drinking and he didn't train hard enough. There were a whole group of them and the club had to change the culture. He didn't get serious about footy until he went to Brisbane.
