what a game by the young man once again.....

Josh drummond - the man with a bag of 7 last week.... couldnt let that stand as the record so he had to take it one step further against morningside on sunday arvo by getting 8 goals.... he was just magical.... considering he hurt his leg in the game last week & spent half an hour before the game on the table before the game & sported a guard on his thigh for the game he played damn fine.....

another player with a red hot performance was Anthony Nuxy Corrie... he was just on fire & if there is any chance of a spot in the seniors this week then he would have to be a shoe in....

also a big welcome back to Tom Logan who showed that he had missed his time out on the field while recovering from the broken jaw with a hard working game in and over the ball.

the player who in my opinion rounded out the top 4 performers for the ressies on the weekend was Matt Moody... he worked sooo hard and had alot of the ball - especially in the 1st half of the game.

Look out for Nuxy, should get a call in the senior squad this week, he's been in awesome form.

Really looking forward to the ressies season this year, we have some very talented lads in the line-up this year.

Good luck to Dylan McLaren this week against the pies.

hes tall as well.... & like u said.. not scared of putting his body on the line as was pretty evident on sunday.

not bad for a bloke who played CHB for like his whole time @ the Northern Eagles... super coaches move of him to CHF seems to be paying off.... that man is a champion coach...

yeah kaz... i too am very excited about the season ahead... just cant wait for it to begin..... not long now......

What is Drummond's bulk like?

From the Lion site it seems he is still reasonably slight, which would be a huge draw back for any step up to senior football.

He is. Throws himself around like a rag doll. Every chance he'll snap in half at some stage.

Seriously, a year in the reserves plus another pre-season on the weights will do wonders.

I haven't been so excited about a young player since Cupido and Morrison.

would probably rather have him @ CHF rather than FF.. he likes to run up the ground to get the ball.... as he showed on sunday but then passes it & ends up in the goal square to take a freakish mark & get ANOTHER goal....

yeah hes not a big build but he certainly can take a strong mark

That would mean elevating Drummond from the rookie list.
I am not sure we have the room under the salary cap to elevate anyone at this stage.
Personally I would like to see Pratt get his reward for the consistent effort and his performances in the pre-season.
Surely Corrie is very close to making his debut soon. What does he have to do to get a game. He's done everything asked of him.
It's good to read from the Brisbane based supporters about the progression of our younger players on the list. At some stage over the next two or three years (if not sooner) we will need them to replace some of the more established retiring stars.

I agree that Pratt and Corrie both deserve an opportunity, but without Merrett or Spaanderman available as well as most likely Lynch we are down on key forwards. Not sure where we stand in relation to the salary cap room we have available to elevate rookies, but it would be a cruel blow to Pratt if someone was elevated ahead of him.

This week could be ideal for Corries elevation, as he would match up very well on Sampi.

Sooner or later we are going to have to start blooding some youth into the seniors. If only to give some psychological incentive to all the others that are putting week in week out. There has to be a message given that an effort will be rewarded with senior games. Otherwise disenchantment and restlessness will ensue and that is not conducive to good team spirit.
Also, less talented hacks are getting Rising Star nominations ahead of our quality youngsters only for lack of opportunity.
Sad to read that McDonald will be out the whole year. Leaves us very vanerable in the talls department.
As far as options for key forwards I believe both Bradshaw and Leppa and to a lesser extent Brennan can carry us for a game or two. Maybe even Voss on the odd occasion.

Would be rapt to see Pratt get elevated he truly deserves a chance. It certainly will be interesting to see how it works out.

I too worry about our talls with Beau now ruled out. The other side of the coin is that perhaps we have been a touch spoilt having 4 extremely competetive ruckman. There is many clubs that struggle to find two as good as any of our four.

About three weeks ago Pratty said he was "about three weeks away". Unfortunately he's still not in full training so...

But yes, he definitely has to be first cab off the rank should we be looking at any rookie elevations. Ready-made seniors player if ever there's been one.

Josh Ratcliffe - even in the sunday mail today - just the sheer size of him as a younger player has got to excite most people...

Austin Lucy - saw him play in the 18s carnival & thought he was great & has shown great skills for us in the games so far & had a damn fine 1st qtr today especially.....

& matty O'Brien... 3 goals... & for a lil bloke.... good onya buddy

also like the way Jarad & jarryd played today & in the other games.....

& for a fave from last year - Max Schlink
