Remember, back in the day we were talking about the 'clean out' only being half complete and another good cut of players was needed before we would be decent.

Intersting, in hindsite.

7 Rounds in and

- Chaffey has done enough week in and out
- Tivendale has generally been in our best 10/15 players
- Knobel has played the best footy of his carrer
- Hall has been within the best dozen key postion defenders in the league
- Hilton & Morrison have been ripping it up for Coburg

How things change.

:)

atm it looks good the players are playing with confidence but if we lose 2 in a row then im not sure how they will react. they could do what we did against port or drop away and not win another 1 for the season. chaffey and tivendale are my 2 concerns with this. i find them to be confidence player and there skills goes up and down going on how the team is preforming. but i do think we need a few more quality draft pics before we can start contending for the flag once they have developed.

Hard to disagree with any of that.

Chaffey has still got to be in the gun to get the flick. His form as only just passable and should be better given our run of success.

Unfortunately Hilton is running out of chances to prove to Wallace if he has anything to offer.

Morrison ditto.

Ray Hall is only a bad game away from havin gthe pressure put back on him but didn't he sign for two years this year.

Tivs is the same the diff being we might get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him.

If Campbell retires then that is 6 off the lsit possibly - we really should not have any more go.

After next season the likes of Archibald, Moore and Gilmour will want to have shown something. - For that matter also Polo, Limbach and Mcguane - these days even the kids have to show something in their first two years.

as always, reasonable players in a side that's going well will be worth more at season's end, so irrespective of how we go for the next 15 rounds (and maybe beyond) we should still assess our list as critically as has been done recently and build on what is achieved this year.

will be a shame if we look ahead of ourselves here ala 2001. crumbs it's round 8, though

I'm pretty sure Hall's contract is up at the end of this year and Tivendale is contracted to 2006 PJ. The scary thing is I think about 20 other contracts end this year.

The players I think come out of contract ithis year are:
Archibald
Bowden
Campbell
Chaffey
Gilmour
Graham
Hall
Hartigan
Hilton
Hyde
Jackson
Johnson
Kellaway
Morrison
Newman
Pettifer
Raines
Roach
Rodan
Stafford
Tuck
Foley (if not promoted)

Some of these have hopefully re-signed for beyond 2005 already.

Whilst im not a Chaffey fan he has been solid. If he continues his current form I can not see him being given the flick - although that may be the best option to give the likes of Jackson & Moore games.

Unfortunately Hilton is running out of chances to prove to Wallace if he has anything to offer.

I beleive Hilton has been good at Coburg with only injuries and lack of chances keeping him out of the side. Again - he might get gut, not a sure thing.

Morrison ditto.

Morrison is still fairly young by KPP terms. With out lack of KPP deapth he might be safe.

Ray Hall is only a bad game away from havin gthe pressure put back on him but didn't he sign for two years this year.

Halls been very good this season. If he continues in this vain he will not be cut.

Gone
Morrison
Hilton
Chaffey

Retire
Campbell
Graham

That's 5 gone, with one spot free on the list and 2 elevations possible to the vets list we have 7 spots we can still fill through the 2005 draft
Plenty

I'm sure we'll trade one or two players too
