Further evidence of the farce the game against the Eagles was when you conside that Armstrong had 35 odd possessions in the game to be in their best players and has now been delisted. I never rated him because of his lack of pace and poor disposal but it is a sad indictment on our midfield that he performed at the level he did against us.

Yeah, he was a pretty good AFL player, especially after the Bali situation. It will be interesting to see if another club feels he is worth drafting.

I can't believe you thought he was a pretty good AFL player. Why do you think he has been delisted. It explains some of your rose coloured views of our players.

Now Barrie, whilst he was at Melbourne I was one who thought he should be moved on. He didn't perform too well for us.

At West Coast, however, he did well. He was part of a premiership team and played some good matches for them. I think he's got quite a lot out of himself considering he isn't hugely talented and he had a difficult time after the Bali incident.

In addition, I always think its a good thing to say something positive about a player when they are delisted or moved on. He may still have a future yet.

Barrie, you always refer to every person on this board wearing rose-coloured glasses, but at the same time you never have a positive thing to say about anyone or anything. Not everything is 'doom and gloom.'

That is a misrepresentation because I am positive about the futures of Morton, Maric, Garland, and Martin. Unfortunately the gloom you attest that I possess is well founded because we don't have enough good players as I thought would be obvious by the position we hold on the ladder. The nucleus of our senior players in terms of skill and leadership qualities is poor compared to other teams. I am prepared to wait the 5 years it is going to take to be potential finalists but I"m not not an ostrich I am a realist.

Misrepresentation? Maybe a little, but fairly accurate on the whole. The fact you are positive about only four players on our list illustrates that. Although I can understand your frustration, the squad contains much more to be positive about than four players.

In terms of senior players you are correct, we lack in that area now, other than Green, Whelan and to an extent Bruce.

I was expecting that 'I'm a realist' remark, it seems to be a common theme for you Bazmundo. I don't mean to have a go at you. I just think you could benefit from a more positive perspective at times. You have to remember our list is young and we are developing for the future, the present isn't our time for success.

Nor was the previous 40 plus years before it.

We can be patient and be realistic enough to know it will take 4 -5 years for our team to be final challengers, but we have done that before we need a premiership.

To say someone is pesimistic and not positive enough at present is more refelection of what has happened the past 40 plus years rather than our ladder postion this year. Whats to say the next 40 years will be any different?
