Exactly. I cant see any of this sticking on either of them.

Footballers can be pretty stupid... But there is no shortage of options for players to be videod doing stupid things... So i doubt highly that both would double down and deny any involvement whatsover... in addition to contradicting witness statements.

You would think that Police would have good evidence that they were at least present during the incident to be able to lay a charge.

My best guess is they have witness testimony identifying both in the fight. Perhaps the victim who suffered the worst of the injuries and/or another witness identified Prestia in particular which is why he got the worst of the charges.

Not sure they police would be afraid of laying a charge just because of some conflicting witness testimony. They may still feel that there is enough evidence to lay a charge regardless.

I think you'll find that the witness here is the guy that ended up in hospital. I'm fairly sure at the time he said they weren't involved. He just wants the whole thing to go away for obvious reasons.

While a Police Prosecutor appears in the local court, the DPP appears in high Courts like the district or Supreme Court.

A top notch KC should be able to break down any fabrication by the defence witness -if they have reliable prosecution witnesses.

A Police Prosecutor like you find in the Magies Court is a lot less likely to be able to expose the lying.
