I all seriousness it just goes to show that however this is still 'alleged' that players are humans and some personal issues may affect how they play sometimes - not just lack of heart' or 'looks disinterested'.
How would we know if a family member died that week or their best mate was in a car crash. Luke Hodge and the birth thing is a great example of that.

If this is true it's disgraceful, I hope they catch the coward and name and shame (and punish!)

When i heard the news last night i was horrified, who does this person think they are?
I feel for Nick Stevens and his family. I hope they catch this sick idiot and let Nick Stevens and the rest of the Carlton players , everyone, live their lives.
And for him to play just shows what a great guy he is.
Not sure if he did this for him or he was sending a message to his team mates, but it was smart for him to put himself in the middle of his team mates.

can anyone tell me why he would be checking his phone 10 mins prior to a game.
he is one of a few AFL players that have been targeted over the past few weeks, police dont appear to be doing much about it.
Sat nights game the only supporters i heard giving him hell was i am afraid to say blues fans.

Merely saying all of Nick's detractors wouldn't have factored in death threats when assessing his form. What the General is saying is partially true in that we have seen Nick in great form and poor form AFTER receiving death threats initially. Surely he doesn't pick and choose when these threats affect him?

The Hawks game certainly as it was pinpointed that something would happen, but prior to that, it just seems to be inconsistency.

Nick hasn't had a good game in Melb since we played the bulldogs. Yet in that time has played 2 ripping games interstate. Maybe there's your inconsistency.

So you think his mind is free and clear and he focusses on his footy interstate because his stalker is unlikely to jump the fence but tenses up in Melbourne? He did have 22 and 21 possessions in 2 of the 3 Melbourne games after the Dogs game. He played in bursts.

mental issues are used as an excused too much these days, voilent abusive people now they can use it as an excuse and they will get of free of any punishment.

Don't care, you did the crime. Have rehab then punishment. Their victims often have to life with their attackers crime for life! Most of the time they've done nothing to deserve such treatment....

I work with the mentally unwell and see them up close. When the wiring is fried there is no logical thought and trying to rewire is a long and difficult process. You can not talk sense often to people who have a loose grip on reality.
There are 6 people in front of me right now who have either tried to kill some other person, themselves or destroy property etc just in the last month. But only 2 of the 6 is actually aware of what they have done. However they are sitting here just like other customers and you would never know they were left of centre

In the same token, there are many that use the "mental" condition to get away with murder. With in a fortnight they back living life as they left off.

We only have to feel bad for his plight if we assume he suffers from mental illness, but what evidence to we have to suggest this?

And what has he done to warrant this benefit of the doubt from Carlton fans?

No. Until he is caught and it is confirmed that he has mental illness, I'm going to assume he's just a lowlife who is full of hate to the point of contemplating acting on it in an inexcusable dog-like manner and as such, I stand by my initial suggestion of tying him to a goal post at Visy Park for the Carlton faithful to come and show him what happens to those who threaten our own.

If, once he is caught, it turns out that he does suffer from mental illness, I'll revise my stand then.

Those who treat/rehabilitate/care for the mentally ill will obviously not see them in the same light as a victim or someone close to a victim of a violent rape/assault/murder that is apparently 'mitigated' by the fact that the perpetrator may not have been of sound mental capacity.

But, inasmuch as it was a personal swipe at you, again:
