I think this is a great decision, he's only had six possesions and zero goals in two games. It looks like Ladhams or S Stevens will replace him.

Bode and Hart are out aswell.

I've been pushing for it all week but when I saw the replacements - Bock and Scott Stevens i became worried :o Now I'm at the stage thinking play out Stevo until Kruger or Watts is good and ready!

The team was just announced on Ch 10.

I hope it is,

Ladhams > M Stevens

Torney > Hart

Van Berlo > Bode

Apparently Bodey has a shoulder injury.

Adelaide has added six players to its squad for Sunday's 'Showdown' clash against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

James Begley returns to the starting 18, after he was an emergency during Adelaide's win over Collingwood.

Nathan Bock, Chris Ladhams, Jason Torney, Scott Stevens and Nathan Van Berlo have also been added to the squad and named on an extended interchange.

For the third successive week, Van Berlo is in line to make his AFL debut, as he has been included in the 25-man squad each match, although he was an emergency for the first two rounds.

The Crows have lost dual premiership defender Ben Hart for the next two to three weeks with a hamstring problem, while midfielder Matthew Bode is also out for a couple with a shoulder injury.

Injury-riddled veteran forward Mark Stevens has been omitted, despite impressing during the pre-season period, however, he has had just six touches in the opening two rounds.

Port regains Michael Wilson and has named Jared Poulton and newcomers Stephen Gilham and Ben Eckermann on the expanded bench.

I am a bit of a Begley fan but his form hasn't warranted selection. His pre-season form was poor. His round 1 form was very ordinary and by all accounts got taken to the cleaners by Clive Waterhouse on the weekend.

Based on that how the ******** did he get picked??????

Yeah, surprised Begley was named in the starting-18 ahead of JT.

Looking at the bench, Biglands & Thompson would be certainties. I expect S Stevens will play as we need the height with M Stevens dropped. So the remaining 3 probably fighting for the last spot.

So apparently you don't need good sanfl form to get a game. Let's hope the selectors remember this when the youngsters must come into consideration from round 4.

Maybe naming Torney is a red herring, and he won't be rushed back this week. Begley would be our next best mid size defensive option.

It sux when guys are getting a game without any form to speak of, but hopefully Jimmy can show us something.

Mark Stevens deserved to be dropped IMO. He hasn't even provided much of a contest, let alone actually get the ball.

Presuming Adelaide maintain their policy of the players named in the starting 18 actually starting, then Begley would be one of the ins, theoretically taking Hart's place.

I doubt whether I'll be right but my other two ins would be Bock and Ladhams.

Bock, because he can play both ends of the ground and goes in harder than Scott Stevens, and could release McGregor up forward if we're in dire straits. Ladhams because he could play wing HF or the crumbing pocket role.

Having said that, they'll probably go Scott Stevens and Van Berlo.

As much as it kills me to say Mark Stevens needs to go back to the SANFL and find touch. Hopefully he will be back and not injured.

Scott Stevens is a waist of time. Bock would be the better option. I remember watching Trent Hentschel play his first game in the AFL he was absolutley shocking. After going back to the SANFL he came back and is looking very good. Bock's situation reminds me of this. I think he will come good in time. I am sure many will disagree.

I have a feeling Ladhams will play. Not exactly sure why, just a hunch.

If he does, at least he is in form, which can't be said for quite a few others, and can provide us with the crumbing forward we are crying out for.

I'm not sure why we need Shirley this week.

He was pretty poor last week - his set shot attempt at goal was terrible, as his always seem to be. IMHO Francou isn't worth tagging atm, not because he isn't a great player, but because we need to ram home our midfield advantage (on paper). Having Riccuito or Thompson go head to head with Francou would be more beneficial than having Shirley follow him and not get a touch himself.

Leaving Bock on Tredera?

NEVER AGAIN!

So our talls will be S Stevens, Bock, Trent, Biglands, Hudson, Rutts, Kenny, Perrie up against Lade, Primus, White, Brogan, Tredrea, Wakelin, Cornes, Chaplin - Let's hope our midfield can dominate.

Personally I reckon Shirley's been good so far.

He did a great number on Judd 2 weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure that Burns was his man last week- correct me if I'm wrong but that's how I saw it.

Burns normally kills us and he only had about 11 possessions for the game if I recall correctly.

As I've said previously I wouldn't tag Francou either. I'd use Shirley on their best ball-getting mid-fielder Kane Cornes and attack attack attack with our other mid-fielders.

Shirley definitely deserves his spot IMO.

I disagree.
We need Shirley to put the squeeze on Francou, James, Ebert ...whoever.
We just need a hardnut run with negater and I didint think his game was that bad last week...he'll never be a goalkicker though

I thought Stevens may have been put in defence when Hart never came up to scratch.

I wont be dissapointed if Lads, Stephens or Bock gets a gig, Bock needs to start showing something quickly though; like Hentschel...hasnt he come of age!
