Stevic - Seriously ?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Love the whinging campaigners on here. It's all fine to say Hawks were gifted a couple of goals, but very convenient to overlook the goals Freeo kicked with non decisions.
- apparently it is ok to throw an elbow into an opponents head
- apparently it is ok to hold Cyril on then fall onto the middle of his back.
Both of these non decisions result in Freeo goals.
And I recall a very ordinary deliberate out of bounds decision against hodge, and another 50/50 against Puopulo.
But apparently we were gifted the win.

At the end of the day, Freeo weren't good enough and Ross will have all summer to think about it.
I cannot see how any Hawks supporter in their right mind would even try to convince others that they were in any way hard done by.
The first Hawthorn goal - in no way a free kick.
The second Hawthorn goal - highly questionable, no one saw it and the umpire gave no explanation.
Clear holding the ball against Lake not paid 20 out on a slight angle.
No 50 metre paid when Lewis charged 2 steps over the mark after being told 3 times to hold.
No 50 metre paid when Puopolo ran within the restricted zone and prevented the Freo player from playing on.
No holding the man free kick to Walters directly in front of goal
No 50 metre paid when Hawks player ran 3 steps over the mark half way through the last which resulted in a turnover and goal.

The elbow you refer to barely brushed Hodge. He went down like he was shot, something your supporters deem an offence so atrocious it requires consistent booing for the remainder of your career.

Cheat ...this umpire is cheat and his bank account should be audited to see if he's betting on Hawks

Twenty odd years ago I shared a house with a footy ump and any talk they don't bet on games is just so wrong.

But maybe things have changes in twenty years......bwahahahahaha

You've got it backwards

Frees in defence stop the oppositions momentum

Frees up forward stop yours

So you're saying that all those frees in fr5ont of goals tonight didn't assist you? WTF? Thats an incredible way to pretend you weren't kissed on the d*** by the maggots all night.

Bit rich coming from a Swans sympathizer......just add 9.8% and we will call it even

Swans sympathiser? Right....

I have an opinion which is shared by a number of people from a number of different teams.

If that's your definition of sympathiser then I could confidently say Stevic appears to be a Hawthorn sympathiser...

I can assure you that not one Hawthorn supporter would agree with the decision against Ballentyne. And if you can't see what the 50 was paid for then what right have you to comment. For all we know someone was mouthing off. The rest are more or less 50/50, and Freeo got their fair share of 50/50s....unless I was screaming at the TV for no apparent reason.

I guess we will see what the MRP says about the elbow. Ilets just say it will get looked at.

Enjoy your summer break

Hawks got the rub of it for most of the first half. Freo got it for the second half up until junktime.

I don't think it effected the result in the end. Perhaps just the margin by a couple goals.

Not sure which umpires were responsible for what decisions (other than the Ballantyne turnover howler in the first) but would be surprised if any of them got to umpire next week if they were equally responsible.

Thing is that the GF umpires come from the two PFs so unless tomorrow nights effort is heaps better across the board then chances are at least one of tonights field umpires will line up.

You do understand this thread is critical of one particular umpire right and not your team ? Not your teams fault if he seemingly favours them.

I would like to see the stats of Stevic's decision making in hawks games but from the naked eye it certainly seems like nearly all of the 50:50 decisions he makes benefit the hawks

I believe all umpires stats should be made public, just as the players are.

I'm saying that a free in defence stops the opponent getting a run on (especially a game like tonight, where your opponent was running rings around you at the contest)

Set shots aren't exactly great by contrast in the league

Fwiw, Ross Lyon in his presser just said freo got the run of the green

I guess the serious thing is that these three clowns that tried to umpire tonight are seen as 3 of the AFL's 6 best. What a sad indictment of the lack of quality, knowledge and skill in the AFL's umpiring ranks. These 3 were totally inept and clueless with no understanding of the game or rules of the game.

I am sure some stats guru or champion data probably already does it. Although as mentioned by someone earlier statistics doesn't take into account missed calls or errant calls.

No. Clearly running over the mark after being warned is not 50/50. It is a blatant breach of the rules. As is taking on the tackler, breaking the tackle then being tackled again, only to drop the ball without handballing or kicking.

It is a very difficult job. We have the privilege of various camera angles, and slomo replays to decide on a decision. The umpire has a split second, and can't change his mind. A simple stat that shows FF and FA for each team would give a good indication if an umpire were biased, over 10+ game period. You may add shots at goal to the stat.

You are dreaming...shocking calls for an experienced umpire!
