he's obviously pretty sharp is Stevie J as is Bob Murphy.

i suspect Murph might be getting a text, call etc from Stevie, you'd suspect he'd be pretty happy with that write up.

On Stevie J, Brent Harvey on ABC last week was glowing in his praise as well during the call.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't discussion between the two before the article went to print.
Murph would have wanted to get all the quotes right ;)
 
How many footballers can write as well as Murph? Not many I'd think. He has a career waiting for him outside football

Oh boo hoo. Just saying Stevie J isn't a "true knob" for trash talking because every player does it. Even ones from Collingwood. Not a Geelong supporter trust me, but I do like Stevie J.

reminds me of last year when he asked Campbell Brown "Cash or Charge" to pay for the clinic he was putting on.

It is a tad arrogant but it is also done "tongue in cheek" as well. What would the game be if there were no characters playing it.

Even though he is a bit cheeky it is not like he doesn't have the skill to back it up.
 
What a brilliant article. Murphy is just great value to listen to as well. Really enjoy him and Sewell on AFL 360 on Tuesdays, definitely two of the more eloquent and thoughtful of modern day footballers.
 
He has had some absolute gems over the years. "Just call me Norm". "Cash or charge". But... still got ways to go to catch this bloke...

The older blokes are still better than any of the young players coming through and will stick around for another couple years and by that time, the younger blokes would have had their 40-50 games experience and just in time to begin another premiership assault.

Going by Geelong's track record, they a safer bet than Collingwood to take the flag in 2012 and unfortunately for your Collingwood, injuries are going to dismantle you guys when the whips get cracking :D

Geelong have 2 really good sledgers (as in funny/smart/original not insulting) in Stevie and Mackie.
Love hearing the stuff they say...
Stevie on Brown "cash or card" was classic and I'd love to hear from Mackie exactly what he said to Fasolo in last years grand final in the last quarter.
I love that kinda stuff, as long as they back it up and it IS tongue in cheek kinda stuff.

I believe Mackie said to Fas something along the lines of "who are you? Seriously who the **** are you? Want a shot at the title?"

Fasolo is a clown but that's pretty rich coming from a player like Mackie.
 
I heard it was along the lines of "I'm about to become a 3 time premiership player in one of the greatest teams of all time, WTF have you done?!".
We need Mackie to tell us what he said!
 
In an interview with Mike Sheahan last year SJ said he thought Murphy was one of the most silky skilled players so I think the respect is mutual.

Great article by Murphy as always. One of my favourite non-Geelong players.
