I plead guilty (obviously) to getting sucked into debates about Buckley and Malthouse but those moves are always defensive, i.e. myself and posters like you never initiate them but respond to some very hoary and well-worn arguments.

I think the thing here is that the mods have to weigh up the right of people to make the same tired points again and again - and which some posters raise to the level of high virtue - versus the draining affect of that continual picking at old sores for the vitality of the site.

I'd like to see a poll on who'd like to see the Buckley/Malthouse debates in any thread versus those who'd prefer to see them quarantined to specific threads instead.

I don't mind Buckley criticisms being expressed, as I state, in the game-day thread where perceived bad moves on game day are articulated. Other than that, take them to the Buckley rant thread.

Totally agree. Buckley coaching talk should be contained in the newly renamed mega thread or the applicable game day thread. Posting in unrelated threads, such as blaming Reid's injury on the succession plan, is trolling and should be dealt wth accordingly. The only reason I want the mega thread stickied is that when it drops off the main page someone makes a new thread. Such as the journo thread created by TD.

And the one before that about the article written by David King

Exactly. The news related articles need to go straight in the mega thread. Happy with that TradeDraft?

Look I think it's okay to talk about Buckley in news threads where Buckley is challenged explicitly, or game day threads. That's the topic and it's right they should be had there.

My issue is that every thread gets contaminated by this question.

If you start banning people for talking about Bucks vs MM then you are letting such a stupid topic dictate how this board is run.

Mods need to do their duty of moving the topics to the designated thread. Banning for such an idiotic thing is the same as Norf idiots banning people for saying Norf.

Heck, make me a mod. I'll move the posts if you can't do it.

The board has become an absolute swamp in the last few years. We live in a liberal-democracy and that's great but there is a little too much libertarian hi-jacking for my tastes on the board. You're an individual, that's fine but there's only so many shit sandwiches I can eat per day.

I'll be the all powerful overlord then.

The review for "Shark Sandwich" was merely a two word review which simply read "Shit Sandwich".

I suppose if Buckley started coaching properly then we wouldnt have to get stressed out by all these negative Buckley posts.

I'd like to pass on a tip that I've found very useful in dealing with posts that I find boring on BF..... I dont read them or if I start reading them and I find them boring, then I read something else. I find this strategy very useful. Another strategy is to block that person. I know that I've been told a couple of times by people that they are going to block me. Wonderful idea. I dont use that strategy because I think the "skipping boring stuff" strategy is far more effective for me.

You don't read posts you find boring?

You're beyond evolution. I'm talking about the humans though. Can you find a way for us?

Well you're an educated man. Use a bit of intuition. I avoid complete threads on the basis that I'm not interested. It's easy to establish if you're bored when you're reading a post....if you hear the words, "why the hell am I reading this crap?" ....then I advise you to move to the next post.

Yes, well that's the point. I don't want to read threads riddled through with repetitive nonsense I've read a thousand times before. Hence this thread. If such crap excites anyone, they know where to go. Otherwise I'd like to read about the topic of the thread in some sequential order.

Folks,

A brand new Buckley coaching megathread has been created for 2015. Please direct any discussions about 'Buckley is God' / 'Buckley is a Dud' / 'Bring back Mick' / 'We would have won 5 Premierships under Mick by now' to that thread.

If someting topical comes up - 'Caro reckons Bucks is a poo poo zuzulama' - by all means create a thread about it and the mods can merge it in later.

A hot tip: if you want to reply to a post, and your reply best belongs in another thread ... Nothing is stopping you from hitting the 'reply' button and copying and pasting the replied-to text over to another thread.

If you come across a thread that is being derailed (any topic - not just Buckley) then report it and the mods will move it / delete it as appropriate. Please be mindful that there's not too much going on this time of year, so we don't need to be too OCD about keeping threads pure ... But please make an effort to keep the Buckley discussions contained.

No need to sticky the Buckley megathread. If it does fall off the main page then that'll mean we're winning games of footy and nobody would complain about that! The thread will get bumped if we lose.

This thread closed.
