I came into a bit of cash recently and decided to plunge a significant amount into Amazon.com and pick up some DVD's from the US that I've had my eye on.

I just noticed a significant similarity between most of the titles I purchased... some live DVDs of Demetri Martin, David Cross and Jim Gaffigan, a double feature of the best of Conan O'Brien and Triumph The Insult Comic Dog and SNL's TV Funhouse and full seasons of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Comedy Central's TV Funhouse, Wonder Showzen, Robot Chicken, Spaced and Mr Show. Add these to recent acquisitions of The Brak Show, Space Ghost- Coast To Coast and Flight Of The Conchords and I realised I'm building up quite a collection of fine leaf viewing.

Basically, I've been having a blast recently.

Oh yeah.

I feel comfortable writing this on a public forum thanks to two pioneers of stoner life... Seth Rogen and Crazy Q, Seth with Pineapple Express and Q with two active drugs threads in the lounge at the moment are really flying the flag and lighting the torch for those still dancing with Mary Jane (and yes, I doubt Tom Petty has finished said dance with MJ).

would that be his last dance, his last dance with her, or her last dance?

hehehehe

had a giggle when half way through his "Full Moon Fever" cd he says - " this is the time when those who bought the tape would have to get up and turn it over", or something along those lines. strange man our Tom :D

I wouldn't mind hearing some highlights from Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

How on earth did Pee Wee's Playhouse become Stoner TV. I like to get a look at it anyways.

Plenty to mull over there, Mr Wizby.

Spaced and Space Ghost aren't only both winners, but they fit the theme well, too.

Big fan of Comedy Central's TV Funhouse, also.

But it's for Mr Show that my love knows no bounds.

Quality.....

Thanks TOD.

In a way, this thread was intended to weed out the Mr Show fans.

About $70 for four seasons at the moment on Amazon, a small price to pay for perhaps the most perfect sketch comedy TV series of all time.

I would hazard a bet that perhaps there is no bigger example of stoner TV.

Its practically a paranoid mindfcuk.

Do yourself a favour and grab these shows as well.

Clone High

Freaks and Geeks

TV Funhouse

Quality viewing right there.

Freaks And Geeks is on my next list, along with in all likelihood 30 Rock, The Office Series 4 and Harvey Birdman:Attorney At Law.

By TV Funhouse do you mean Robert Smigel's SNL compilation of his classic shorts, or Robert Smigel's TV Funhouse, the human/puppet 'kids' show with occasional appearances by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog?

Because BOTH are in my OP. And both about to warm up my TV.

And BOTH are brilliant... check out Wonder Showzen for a similarly twisted attempt at childrens viewing.

BTW, apart from Mr Show, my highlight so far is the Best of Triumph disc... including a too-good-to-be-true piss take of the nerds in queue months before the release of Attack Of The Clones.

Golden Fried Gold.

I omitted Harvey Birdman from my original list because I just assumed you were cool and already had it. It's a must buy.

And yeah, I was referring to the stand-alone Smigels TV Funhouse series;

Which is, of course, brilliant... in particular the disturbing Anipals visit to the restaurant where they can eat their own species.

Birdman is high on the list and has been for ages... just cannot justify shelling out $120 for the three seasons tho.

Waiting for a JB HiFi sale.

Just watched this sketch again on the DVD... I forgot how brilliant is.

Dead Parrot sketch?

Meh.

This is the finest moment in sketch comedy history.

See also... Monks vs Fat Kids camp olympics. I almost died when that fat kid got his throat cut:D

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Lost in Space!

Also Sesame Street aliens (I think they are called the Yip Yips) - Stoner TV doesn't get much better.

Whenever I think of the show, I always for some reason think of the little sketch about the TV Travel Presenter getting his balls tickled by a boy in Morocco.

:D

:D

That actually reminds me of another little gem that played on the Comedy Channel that I can't seem to find on DVD... 'Gerhard Reinke's Wanderlust'.

Pee-shy in Thailand.
