Tutorial Stormy's Guide To Making Realistic Overlays

Stormy, for this Carlton one, I've used Overlay instead of Hard Light and I've got it at 100% Opacity.

Less shiny.


EDIT: Tried it on others. Liverpool one looks the same, Overlay doesn't work on black, and I'm not sure what happened with my Olympiakos one I tried.

Overlay doesn't work on white either, does it? One day I'll figure out how to remove the shine. In other news, how do you do that embroidery like thing? I've found this but it seems like a lot of effort and I'm sure there's got to be an easier way. I tried to do it my own way but failed very miserably.

Nope, that is as about as easy as it gets. The one I did for the LogoOTW was just a bevel on each individual colour, with a pattern overlay, but it only works in small scale. Any larger image needs to be really complex unfortunately.

Ive had the adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator etc) for about a month now. I was going to buy the student one until dad found CS5 lying around his office and gave it to me

Seriously, learn to use Illustrator (particularly the pen tool). It'll be the best decision of your life

I just searched "silk" in google images, found a wallpaper, and it turned out pretty good
I also used this tutorial (pretty much the same as yours Stormy).
