Ok lads, must admit I havent been keeping up with the Brisbane carnival form but will be at HQ Saturday.

Typically tough Straddie, who do you like & why?

Seth.

I like Our Egyptian Raine, she has been great this Autumn, going close on a number of occasions but hasn't had the luck. Barrier 1 in a 24 horse field is fantastic, and I expect her to sit two or three back on the inside and charge home. She's come second a number of times but I don't think she's a Lord Volksraad .;)

Tab Sportsbet

$5 Kings Chapel
5.5 Falkirk
6.5 Our Egyptian Raine
7.5 Thorn Park
9 True Glo
13 Recurring
15 Sedecrem
21 Royal Mask (1E)
26 Patezza (2E)
26 Gordo
26 Consular
31 Pomp and Glory
35 St. Basil
35 Scaredee Cat
41 Unearthly
41 Bomber Bill
51 Face Value
51 Forum Floozie
51 Britts Best
51 Sportsman
61 Ancient Song
71 Make Mine Magic
151 Lamond (3E)
151 Proudly Agro (4E)

Looking forward to the race

A horror Barrier for True Glo :( , otherwise i think it would just about be fav...

Only reason is the jockey
That is a very good get, i might consider this one. Totally overlooked St Basil. Hasn't it been running against Defier? Why are they entering it in this sprint? Love sneaky ones.

Can anyone one enlighten me on Unearthly's last couple.
She looked very promising in the 3yo classics.
Really rate David Payne as a trainer too.

Sedecrem or Scaredee Cat.

I've had a gutful of Thorn Park.

Im the opposite.
I backed Scaredee Cat last start when I was in Qld, & its run was very ordinary plenty of money for it though. Im actually following Nickolic & backing Thorn Park I really think today is the day he will stand up.

For what its worth Im confident that Russian Pearl can win the Derby. Had a very nice collect when it won the other week & its run last week was good again when conceding weight. Been up for 3 weeks in a row my only concern. Did defeat Kings Chapel about 5 runs back in NZ over 1600m (thats why I backed a couple of weeks ago).
Danger = Set Up.

good punting all

Thorn Park in a good mood for once and finally wins a decent race, although you'd have to question the depth of it when a very average handicapper in Consular is cutting him down with every stride in the last 150m.

Did Sedecrem run? Never heard or saw him. Terrible.

Scaredee Cat put in a great run. Didn't get out until the 200 and the leaders had got away but he was charging home to just miss 3rd. Looks like he wants a mile now.

Anyone see the win of Chut in Race 2? Owned by the same syndicators of Alinghi, trained by the same trainer and looks to be just as good. He got back to 4th last and found some bother in the straight but once he got out, he stretched out like a bloody good horse. If both he and Alinghi stay sound they look like dominating the Colts and Fillies classics this spring.

I backed the 2nd horse Willy Leica. His run was enormous. Jot him down in your black book too.

If only the horse jumped with 'em, should have won. I still got $7.40 the place so not a bad bet.

Did you back it each way Deej ?
yeah worm 20 e-w was kicking myself when it missed the jump by 4 lengths. To finish within a length gets it into 'certainty beat' category. I think we picked the winner, just didn't jump, very stiff. What was it paying the win, $25 ?? Was looking at $650 collect instead of $150 oh well thats punting.

Had a bit on Vaincross in adelaide 5 mins after the straddie and only one other bet (lost on Branson in last at brissy) so all up the day was about a $200 win. I'll take that.
