A topic that needs to be spoken about. We don't have any room to move, sudden death from here in. Port smashed Richmond, smashed !! Didn't have too many passengers. Now for us, Tabs, Pearce, Clarke and our mids all dropped the ball, any similar display this week will see us out in Straight Sets.

Richmond put up as much resistance to Port as Carlton did a few weeks earlier. Reaching the eight was Richmond's ultimate goal. Having achieved that they collapsed mentally and probably physically. We will win comfortably as we did two weeks ago.

As I have mentioned in a couple of other threads. I really do believe that the outcome of this game rests on whether Barlow, Ballas and Sutty get up. Missing one from every line will hurt all more than we think. Then an embarrassing straight sets exit is on the cards.

If all 3 get up and Tabs shakes off a bad game and puts it behind him, it's game
On !!!

I'd say we'll shape up better this week than last. We played like shit against the syds and were in it up to the end.

Port are no pushover and they will have learnt from their last trip here, so there are very good reasons why we need to play Fremantle footy this weekend.

Lose, and I think a few heads will roll.

What's wrong with Mick?

Think our chances are gone this year. Even if/when we beat Port we face a rested Hawthorn at the G

Add in the mix of injuries compared to a healthy Port and Hawks, it doesn't look good.

Needed to finish top 2, we had our chances but blew it with bad losses to North and St Kilda

Port played a team of witches hats which has a laughable finals record. If Freo make it hard for them to get the run happening by stopping the right players Port will be exposed as the front-running downhill-skiers that saw them beat nobody of any real quality in the last half of the season. Not that I hope Port lose or anything like that….much! Go Freo!

We have Nat Fyfe back this time, although we will be without Johnno and possibly Ballas.

We are at home and have a 7 day break, whilst they have to travel on a 6 day break.

The lack of rotations due to the 6 day break last time nearly cost us in the end, plus I don't think that Taberner, Ballantyne and Walters will play like that again this week.

We were up against the number one team in the comp after all.

Johnno may as well not have played last time. Ibbo looked more than comfortable playing that role against Sydney.

I was concerned about the 'straight sets' after we beat Port. We expended a lot of energy getting that 9 goal streak in the game and then we looked down against Sydney. Now we have to back up against Port again, their strengths of running/speed/energy will be sapping against us again and we cannot look for another 9 goals in a row to win it.
We must have a very strong first half and control the ball. For mine, turnovers are our achilles heel as we seem to cough it up via skill errors and decision making which is not how we played last year.

Even if our team is bundled out in straight sets, highly unlikely, we are well placed for next year. Having rolled the dice adding Sylvia, Gumby,
to the list for no gain, improvement from Tabs, Crozier, Silvagni, Sutcliffe, Neale, Duffy, prove we are on the right track.
We have struggled to play our best footy all year, and injury, suspension, umpires, haven't helped. But Freo have proven the critics wrong so
many times, Lyon is creating a team that refuses to lie down, doesn't matter who is out. Anywhere, Anytime, we come to play.

Straight sets is a possibility and I would consider it a wasted season if that occurred.

We've had injuries, we've had a lot of players down for various reasons, we've had umpires that umpire Freo games differently but despite that we're still here.

That said though, after making the Grand Final last season, straight sets this season would be a waste and would be us almost giving back the gains we made last year.

Bloody hell, we were in it against Sydney until the best forward in the game kicked 2 brilliant last quarter goals that you could only applaud. Hardly time to throw the rope over the rafter.
We should of had them in the 3rd. Ballas should of kicked straight and if Tabs takes that grab, different story. Oh well coulda, woulda, shoulda, didnt

Two keys for me.

How we learn from 2 weeks ago, you guys smashed us on transition, so will we structure up differently?

Injuries to your key players, could make a difference, rightfully you guys will start favourites and most likely win, Westhoff should have kicked that goal at the end 2 weeks ago resulting in a 3 point loss.

A bit more polish and it could be an upset.

Good luck, but not too much luck ;)

Port will have to contend with Fyfe this time and we also won't have a gimpy Johnson trying to mark Westhoff. I'm also not sure you have a solution for our two rucks running Lobbe into the ground.
